euphoric wonderland

(Group Project)
brainstorming ideas
Inspiration
We all began by coming up with various suggestions such as Cyberpunk City, Apocalyptic Wonderland, Purple Wonderland, Dream Core Wonderland and Aura Wonderland, were the some of the concepts we came up with.
We finally decided to go with Euphoric wonderland.
choosing elements
We narrowed down the elements since we thought there were too many of them after receiving a feedback from professors.
design development/composition
Our original design composition was criticized after receiving feedback from professors because it contained more "elements that made us feel euphoric" than "elements that give the sensation/vibe/feeling of euphoric when you look at the composition of the project.
We attempted to represent and arrange our new elements in this drawing, but it required more details, better structuring, and the addition of more pieces.
We wanted to mix the wave in this drawing with another one of our subjects since we thought there was something strange about the wave. I thus advised the group to mix the wave with the crescent moon.

Elements to vectors
These are all the vectors I made for our elemnts in Adobe illustrator.
cardboard prototype
Laser cutting
I organised and edited all the vector files in one Ai file and sent it to the fablab. There, I changed the stroke size, color (RGB) , artboard size ,etc and did the laser cut
paper prototype outcome
I made this paper prototype to know know how it would look like. This was a preliminary collection of what the components might look like when combined.
cardboard prototype outcome
REFLECTION-The cardboard prototype wasn't to our taste. We chose to redesign our elements and focus more on the specifics of each one because we didn't like how the elements seemed repetitive and didn't make sense.
Plywood laser cut
I set up every artboard for the vectors; did all the measurements and made sure the elements were the sizes we wanted.
Painting plywood
On the plywood, we painted using gouache. To make it simpler to combine the colors, we first painted the plywood with white as a base color.
All the elements that I painted
I drew this illustration for better understanding of placement of elements. We followed this arrangement further.
Placement of elements
Spray painting
I began by using black spray paint, followed by navy blue, cyan, and white in the middle.
Me and Fatima Al Haddad Painted stars (sparkles) and shooting stars with white paint on the background that we spray painted earlier.
FInal outcome
Reflection
This project taught me that well planned group projects may strengthen abilities that apply to both group and individual work, such as the capacity to break down challenging tasks into manageable steps. Set aside time for planning. Improve comprehension by talking about and explaining.
