brainstorming ideas

We started off with lots of ideas. We made the decision to establish a concept for our photo booth by trying to blend two strange situations and themes. "Afternoon Tea in a Well" was one of the top three combinations that Lolwa came up with.

I also considered the concept of things melting in enclosed spaces or vice versa, for instance, a "frozen desert."

research and inspiration

After our choice of a jail/mugshot photo booth, we started doing extensive study on the criminal underworld. We were aware that the mugshots required the height information. I also advised that the five tally marks be added to the background. I also considered creating a suspect list and bags of evidence, such as phony identification documents.

Painting the photobooth

I accidentally dipped it in black while using the grey paint. I admitted to my group my error, but we still chose to create such a texture since we thought it was attractive.

I painted all the edges orange. We decided to paint the interiors black

making the props

Using foil and a toilet paper roll, I created a spray paint can. I created the fake identification cards using cardboard, evidence bags, and suspect's boards.

We choose to use several backgrounds for the background. I got the holders and pipes for that. It couldn't be rolled back, which was the one drawback. I then had another idea to make a hand roller at the side, but sadly it didn't work as well, so we ended up purchasing blinds from Ikea.

I made vectors for creating the "confidential stamp" hanging sign and then laser cut it on red acrylic sheet. Hajer and I painted the ceiling-mounted wooden planks on which to hang things. We also created a jail or prison out of cardboard and rods. We put handprints on it with paint then spray painted it to make it appear more realistic. Using clamps, we attached this jail to the front of the frame.
