We were to create an art work for this assignment by subtracting (cutting out!) shapes from a magazine of our choice while taking texture, size, color, and other design elements into consideration.
magazine 1
I had never cut magazines before, so I just started exploring without having any kind of plan or approach. I damaged it by attempting to cut out so many pages as a result. I also became aware of the unevenness of my cuts and stokes.
magazine 2
Final outcome
After noticing that the cuts were not clean when made quickly, I made the choice to work slowly and steadily on the second magazine. I began by cutting a window image in the middle.
magazine 3
Final outcome
I made the decision to go with a color scheme for the third magazine.
I chose a green theme because the selected magazine included a lot of green hue.
I carefully perused and analyzed the magazine to choose objects and elements that were green.
With the help of practice, I was able to create cuts that were more precise and clean than I had previously.
However, I faced a few difficulties for this magazine.
I was unable to make deeper cuts because the magazine's paper and material were so bad and the pages were so easily prone to slipping.
magazine 4
Final outcome
With my fourth magazine, I had a better idea of what should I do. I didn't want to create a narrative which would make it cringy. I aimed to produce a third magazine with more depth than the previous three. I was quite pleased with the outcome. I was able to make more accurate and clean cuts than I had in the earlier with the help of practice.
