My name is Jennie Manning and I have been working in the education field for 17 years, ten of which have been at Valentine High School. I have taught business classes, ran credit recovery programs, a truancy reduction program, and been a school counselor for grades PK-12. Valentine is the fourth school district that I have been a part of.
My husband and I are not from Valentine, we spent most of our lives in Scottsbluff. My oldest son, Benjamin, is in the US Navy and my youngest son, Maxwell, is in second grade. Brian, my husband, works for UPS. We also have two dogs named Grace and Sully.
I graduated high school from Scottsbluff and then went on to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for a semester, but then found myself back in Scottsbluff attending Western Nebraska Community College as I didn’t feel like college was the right thing for me at that time in my life and I enlisted in the US Navy. I served four years on active duty and was stationed aboard the USS Shoup out of Everett, Washington. I fulfilled my active duty enlistment in 2004 and moved back to Scottsbluff. I then felt a strong urge to return to school. I received my associates degree from Western Nebraska Community College, then went on to earn my bachelor’s degree in business management from Chadron State College. After I was out of school for a bit, I decided to return to school to get my bachelor’s in secondary education. I then went on to earn my master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Chadron State College and then back again for a master’s in school counseling. I also earned my Master of Business Administration degree.
