Collaborative Leadership at Pauma:
Context: Pauma School has active collaborative leadership bodies on campus (SGT, ILT, SSC, Departments, Small Schools, etc.). Within these groups, all present have active voices in guiding decisions. Each group defines protocols at our meetings.
Purpose: To ensure all Pauma stakeholders have a voice in our leadership and decision-making bodies.
How:
One of our goals is to increase participation from parents/guardians. We started by hosting listening circles to understand parent preferences. We are hosting monthly meetings and classes for parents (students are also welcome), where we pair a fun activity with a learning opportunity. For example, we hosted a cooking class focusing on communication, and we will host a tutorial on navigating the parent portal.
For the Spring Semester, we will host two "Coffee with the Principal" sessions, during which parents can meet and speak with our Principal.
During our meetings and classes, we are actively recruiting parents/guardians to participate in our decision-making bodies. Please see below for how you can get involved.
Ways to get Involved
Community Schools Committee (CSC):
CSC provides guidance and recommendations on Community Schools initiatives such as the Needs and Assets assessment, Community Schools funding requests, and community partner and program collaborations. It meets every third Wednesday of the month from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Room 13 at Pauma School (33158 Cole Grade Rd, Pauma Valley, CA 92061).

School Site Council (SSC):
SSC develops and approves the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) and related expenditures for specific budgets in accordance with all state and federal laws and regulations, recommends the plan and expenditures to the governing board for approval, and evaluates the progress made toward school goals to raise the academic achievement of all students. SSC meets every fourth Wednesday of the month from 5:30 pm-6:30 pm at Pauma School in the conference room (33158 Cole Grade Rd, Pauma Valley, CA 92061) and via Google Meet: TBD
