In today's digital age, media shapes how we see the world—making media literacy an essential 21st-century literacy. As Alvin Toffler wisely said, “The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.” Media literacy empowers us to critically analyze, question, and create media, equipping us to adapt to the constant flow of information. It’s vital to spotting misinformation and making informed decisions in our personal and civic lives.
The annual U.S. Media Literacy Week is hosted by the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE). The mission is to highlight the power of media literacy education and its essential role in education all across the country. U.S. Media Literacy Week calls attention to media literacy education by bringing together hundreds of partners for events and activities around the country.
