Cleaning Guidelines

The EPA List N information is found at this website https://www.epa.gov/pesticide-registration/list-n-disinfectants-use-against-sars-cov-2-covid-19

When you scroll down, you will see a table of disinfectants. Right above that, you can search using the chemical EPA Registration Number that is in teeny tiny print on the product label, on the product website, or sometimes it is in Section 15 of the product Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

You can also click on the Other Search Options button and search the product name, company, etc. If the EPA Reg. Number “finds” the product, that means it is approved effective against the coronavirus. If you don’t see the exact product name match, don’t worry it’s good because it has the same effective/active ingredient(s) as long as the EPA number matches.

The City of Virginia Beach is using a Spartan quaternary ammonium disinfectant called TB-Cide Quat because it is readily available and it offers a fairly short “kill/dwell time” of 2 minutes. Know that some schools prefer a less hazardous Spartan disinfectant called Husky that requires a “kill/dwell time” of 10 minutes so you may want to talk to the custodial staff about a preferred product. Product information is attached below but remember lots of things like disinfectants and PPE is dependent on availability.
