Health and Physical Education Expectations

Physical Education: General information

Purchase and properly wear the IMS PE uniform each activity day.
- $13.00 for a set; $6 for shirt and $7 for shorts
- Pay in the main office and show any PE teacher the receipt to receive the uniform.
Follow all expectations and policies of the locker rooms and gymnasiums.
Secure all belongings with the school issued combination lock.
- No charge for lock as long as it is turned in upon departure from IMS.
  - Lock replacement is $5.00
  - See teacher immediately if lock is missing
Spray deodorants and colognes are not permitted due to allergies. Roll on forms are encouraged.
Injury / Sickness: Excuse notes from home or the school clinic are to be presented the day of injury or sickness. A doctor’s note is requested for more than 2 days of excuse.
Privately owned electronic devices should not be brought to physical education activity class unless given specific instruction by their PE teacher.

Tardy Policy: 1st tardy-verbal warning by teacher

2^nd tardy- 1 teacher detention, 3^rd tardy Admin detention per nine weeks

Health class general information

Purchase and bring to each health class a 3 ring binder, pen and / or pencil.
Follow all classroom expectations.
Complete and turn in all class work
The BYOD policy (bring your own device) will be gone over individually by each health teacher
All assigned textbooks must remain in the classroom.

Instructions on how to access an online version of the textbook will be given to each student.

Extra Help: Provided by your Health and PE teacher at a time that is convenient for both.

Schedule

Each student will follow a 3 week rotation throughout the school year consisting of 1 week of health followed by 2 weeks of physical education.

Grade book entries

Updated grades will be entered into each teacher’s grade book at the end of each 3 week cycle.

IIMS HPE - Grading Practices

Homework

Written homework is typically not assigned in HPE. However, students are expected to prepare and study for tests at home.
In the event a student does not finish a classwork assignment they will be given the opportunity to take it home and complete it. This assignment will be put in the gradebook as a classroom assignment.

Extra Credit & Additional Help

Extra credit will not be assigned in HPE.
Additional help will be provided upon request.

Make Up Work, Zeroes, & Late Work

All makeup work will be provided for absences. It is the student's responsibility to see his/her teacher for all makeup work. If a student does not turn in work by the end of the health week, the student will be assigned a zero for the classwork. Students will have the following PE rotation to turn in late work. If late work is turned in during small gym week, student will be penalized 10 points. If late work is turned in during big gym week, student will be penalized 20 points. Students must check Student Vue on a regular basis in order to determine if they have late work due.
