KHSLW 2027 Staff Applications are now open! Apps are due May 1st at 2:30pm, and there is a required video interview. Please allow enough time to complete both parts of the application prior to the deadline. Late applications will not be accepted. 

Applications are expected to be quite competitive this year. Applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria: 

• Ability to commit to the required meetings and events.

• Disciplinary record with KHS and the KHSLW program.

• Responses to video interview questions 

• Academic record (While GPA is not a critical determining factor, students should demonstrate the ability to balance academic demands with extracurricular responsibilities)

• Their ability to contribute to the current needs and goals of the program.

• Integrity, trustworthiness, and character. 

• Ability to interact positively with adults and all peers, including those from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. 

• KHS Staff Input and Recommendations 

• Prior leadership workshop experience and/ or leadership and extracurricular roles.

Next Meeting:  March 4th, 2026 to work on the decorations for the 2026 March Madness Student vs Faculty Basketball Game!  Meet outside of the SCA Office at 2:00.

SCA GENERAL ASSEMBLY:  ALL students are welcome to join the SCA.  THERE ARE NO REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY! The SCA plans most of our school-wide events and spirit weeks throughout the year, including the Homecoming Dance, Student-Faculty Basketball, Pep Rallies, and more! There are a few "tiers" of involvement in SCA, and each one is critical to our success.

SCA Executive Board (Committee Chairs): Committee chairs are the "point people" for specific events throughout the year. If selected to be a committee chair, you are responsible for communicating with your committee and ensuring that all tasks to make our projects and events successful are completed on time. Applicants for these positions should be excellent communicators and self-starters. You should be organized and prepared to take initiative to get the job done.  You will have executive board meetings additional meetings to attend with other committee chairs, the officers, and the advisers.

SCA Officers: Officers are elected by the student body during the second half of the school year, in preparation for the next school year.  Officers help lead and collaborate with the committees they oversee.  Officers are responsible for setting a good example as a student leader. Any students in good standing at Kempsville High School are encouraged to run for office and take on a new leadership role within our community.
