Last week, the children took part in in Road Safety Week (16–22 November), a national campaign organised by the charity Brake.
The theme for 2025 was Safe Vehicles Save Lives.
To mark the occasion, all the children joined an assembly where they learned about the importance of road safety. Afterwards, they went on a walk around the school perimeter — a real-life road safety walk — practising how to cross carefully and recognising the key steps of Stop, Look, Listen, and Think taught in the Green Cross Code.
It was a great reminder for all of us — as pedestrians, parents, drivers, and passengers — that staying alert, making safe choices, and using safe vehicles really can save lives.
In Literacy this week, Butterflies and Caterpillars read Harry and the Dinosaurs have a Happy Birthday. We drew and wrote about our favourite party food.
The Year 1 Cheetahs came into class to discover that some sort of mysterious creature had broken in overnight. It left behind muddy footprints, scraps of green fur, and even helped itself to the fruit bowl!
The children used the clues to make predictions about the creature and then created brilliant Wanted posters to warn others about the terrible beast on the loose. They practised using questions, statements and commands to describe the creature and keep the school community alert.
Over the past two weeks, our pupils have been busy, enthusiastic, and fully engaged in a wide range of learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom.
In music, the school has been filled with rhythm and excitement as students took part in steel pans and drumming sessions. Their enthusiasm has been infectious, and we have certainly spotted a few emerging musical stars of the future!
Meanwhile, preparations are well underway for our whole-school winter performance. Students have been rehearsing their lines and practising their songs with great dedication. We can’t wait to share their hard work and talent with you soon.
This week also included our assessment activities, which the pupils approached with admirable focus. These are not formal tests, but valuable tools that help teachers identify learning strengths and areas where additional support may be beneficial. Our goal is always to ensure every child continues to make strong progress and feels confident in their learning.
Thank you for your continued support—we are incredibly proud of all the effort, enthusiasm, and positivity shown by our pupils over these past two weeks.
This week, the children in Eagles Class have been working extra hard on their class assembly. They have been practising their lines until they know them perfectly, using fantastic expression, and putting real effort into their acting. Some of the children have also been busy helping to prepare props for the play, showing great teamwork and creativity. Eagles Class can’t wait for their parents to see them perform on Monday, and we hope to see you there!
Year 4’s Rootd Residential: What an Adventure!
Year 4 had an amazing time on their Rootd residential! They tackled a thrilling scavenger hunt, raced through the exciting Resta Run, learned survival skills in bush craft, and showed off their aim in archery. With so many fun activities, lots of laughter, and great teamwork, it truly was an unforgettable adventure for our fantastic Year 4s!
Year 5 had a great week upskilling their writing by adding relative clauses to their sentences! We have been adding detail to our character descriptions about Prospero, Miranda and Ferdinand (from the Tempest) and it has been a joy to see how far their writing has come! The past week has been all hands on deck with preparing for our Christmas production of Narnia! Year 5 have been singing superbly, learning their lines very confidently and acting with flair! Well done to all!
Year 6 Design and Technology: Building Strong Structures!
Year 6 Tigers have moved on the next stage of their Structures Unit, putting their surveillance and design planning into action. The children explored how to create strong, stable frameworks using materials such as wooden dowels, straws and card.
They experimented with joins, supports and ‘A’ frames and put their problem solving to good use, learning how engineers test ideas and adapt their plans.
The children are showing fantastic teamwork and creativity and are enjoying seeing their ideas come to life in three dimensions!
Vauxhall’s Winter Market will be on Tuesday 16th December 2025. We are kindly asking for your support to help towards the Winter Market. Each class will be running a stall, and we’d really appreciate any donations you can offer to support your child’s class stall no later than Friday 12th December, 2025.
We will also be running some whole school stalls including a tombola, raffle and food. We are now collecting donations of any suitable unopened food and drink, food, toiletries, books, games, toys etc. If you would like to contribute to our food stall by bringing in hot or cold food, please speak to Miss Pilgrim or Ms Henry.
The 'WakeUpWednesday' guides empower and equip parents, carers and educators with the confidence and practical skills to be able to have informed and age-appropriate conversations with children about online safety, mental health and well-being, and climate change.
Each week we will post a relevant guide to support our school community's knowledge and understanding of how to keep safe online and new things to be aware of.
This week's online safety focus is ''AI generated videos". Please click on the PDF to enlarge it.

Winter Bug😷!
We know that winter bugs have been circulating in our community, and we understand how challenging it can be when your child is unwell. We wanted to take this opportunity to remind you about our attendance expectations and when to keep your child at home.
When to keep your child at home
Please keep your child at home if they:
Have a high temperature (fever)
Are too unwell to participate in school activities
Have vomiting or diarrhoea (children should stay home for 48 hours after the last episode)
Have a contagious illness that could spread to other children
When your child can return to school
Your child can usually return to school when:
Their temperature has returned to normal
They are well enough to participate in lessons and activities
The 48-hour period has passed (in cases of vomiting or diarrhoea)
Supporting good attendance:
Good attendance is vital for your child's learning and progress. We understand that genuine illness happens, but we encourage you to send your child to school whenever they are well enough to attend. Minor colds and sniffles don't usually require time off school.
