Today, we say a heartfelt farewell to a cherished member of our school community. After nearly 13 years of dedicated service, we sadly bid goodbye to Miss Sam.
Miss Sam has had a profound impact on the lives of countless children and their families, bringing warmth, dedication, and a passion for education to Vauxhall Primary. She has been an unwavering source of support, particularly for neurodiverse pupils, helping them to grow in confidence and reach their full potential. Her commitment to inclusivity and individualised support has made a lasting difference in the lives of many.
Beyond the classroom, Miss Sam has also shared her love of nature with the school, bringing her passion for gardening into our learning environment. Her enthusiasm for outdoor learning has inspired many children, fostering a love for the natural world and hands-on experiences.
As she embarks on an exciting new opportunity, where she will continue to lead and inspire others, we have no doubt that she will bring the same dedication and passion that made her such an integral part of our school.
On behalf of the children, staff, and families of Vauxhall Primary, we extend our sincere gratitude to Miss Sam and wish her the very best in this next chapter. She will always be a part of the Vauxhall family!
As many of you may already know, Miss Edwin is expecting her first child, and we couldn't be more excited for her as she prepares for this wonderful new chapter in her life! We are all eagerly anticipating the arrival of her little one and can't wait to meet the newest addition to her family.
Miss Edwin will begin her maternity leave on Friday, April 4th, and will be taking a well-deserved year off to enjoy this special time with her growing family. During her absence, Miss Darteh, who is already familiar with the class, will be stepping in to continue the excellent work that Miss Edwin has done. We are confident that the transition will be smooth, and Miss Darteh will bring the same level of care and enthusiasm to the class that Miss Edwin has always shown.
We know that Miss Edwin will be deeply missed by both the children and the staff, but we are excited for her and look forward to hearing about all of the beautiful moments she will experience during her maternity leave. We also look forward to sharing a few special pictures with you along the way, so we can all be a part of this exciting journey.
Please join us in sending Miss Edwin your warmest wishes as she embarks on this incredible new phase of her life. We can't wait to see her back with us next year, ready to share the joys of motherhood and her new experiences with all of us.
Year 1 had a fantastic time taking part in 'There's a Bear on My Chair' workshop. They enjoyed an interactive session filled with games, storytelling and creativity. The children had great fun making their own bear and mouse mask, bringing the characters to life. It was a wonderful experience that sparked their imagination ad love for storytelling!
In the past two weeks, Year 2 students have been enjoying learning dance in PE, expressing creativity through movement.
Year 2 have also been making the most of our revamped school library, reading peacefully and quietly. Remember, reading is an essential skill, so let’s continue supporting our children to develop and progress in this important area!
In Year 4 in our English lessons, we began our new book called ‘The Matchbox Diary’ by Paul Fleischman. When the children walked into the classroom, they found some mysterious boxes. They had the opportunity to look inside the boxes and found some peculiar items such as matches, an olive seed, a piece of macaroni, an old picture and a pen.
They then began to ask questions and create predictions orally about how these objects might be related to one another or how it links to the great-grandfather in the story. Using modal verbs and conjunctions they then wrote their predictions, along with some rhetorical questions.
In Year 6 they have been sharpening their geometry skills, revisiting angles and mastering the use of protractors with confidence.
They have also been having great fun creating nets of 3D shapes!
We are thrilled to share the success of our recent Iftar event, which was a truly special and memorable evening. It was heartwarming to witness our school community come together to break fast, enjoy delicious food, and celebrate this meaningful time with one another.
The event was graced by the presence of Florence Eshalomi MP, our deputy chair of governors - Mr Issa, and 174 guests from both the school and local community. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who contributed to making this event meaningful, especially the parent volunteer team who were amazing, the AMAN Foundation UK for generously sponsoring the meals and staff who gave up their valuable time. Your support and kindness fostered an atmosphere of warmth, unity, and joy.
We look forward to many more opportunities to come together as a school community. Wishing you continued blessings - Eid Mubarak!
On Monday, students celebrated World Maths Day through art, demonstrating their creativity in a variety of engaging activities. Students investigated mathematical themes such as symmetry, patterns, ratios, time, and geometry, applying these concepts in hands-on ways. They created stunning tessellations inspired by nature, used pixels to design digital images, explored geometry and fractions through design projects, and studied the relationship between time and rhythm in music. Each task reinforced key mathematical skills, showing how math can be both practical and imaginative. The children produced some fantastic pieces, and it was a wonderful day of learning and creativity!
The Coding Club members have been developing their programming skills by creating algorithms to create mini games like ‘7 seconds, Hot Potato, Blow Away and Clap Lights.
They have been using Microsoft’s Make Code app https://makecode.microbit.org/ and BBC Micro Bit devices.https://microbit.org/
Please check the timetable for your child's PE days. On these days, your child should come to school wearing their PE kit. A reminder that PE kits must be navy blue or black.
