European Day of Languages
Children's rights
#WakeUpWednesday - Instagram
...+ our regularly updated Diary Dates, Term Dates, our weekly Headteacher Awards and TT Rockstars.
On Thursday, we celebrated the European Day of Languages with a range of exciting activities! We were thrilled to welcome a special guest, a Spanish-speaking parent, who delivered an inspiring assembly about the importance of languages and cultural diversity. Throughout the day, children participated in various activities celebrating the many languages spoken within our school community. From language games to children building their own 'museum of my resources', it was a wonderful opportunity for the children to explore and appreciate the richness of the languages that make our school so unique.
Article 30 Children have a right to speak their own language and to follow their families way of life.
We are proud to be a Gold Rights Respecting School, meaning children's rights are at the heart of everything we do.
Next week, we will focus on:
Article 2 (non-discrimination) The Convention applies to every child without discrimination, whatever their ethnicity, gender, religion, language, abilities or any other status, whatever they think or say, whatever their family background.
Article 30 (children from minority or indigenous groups) Every child has the right to learn and use the language, customs and religion of their family, whether or not these are shared by the majority of the people in the country where they live.
Click on the video to learn more about the convention.
The 'WakeUpWednesday' guides empower and equip parents, carers and educators with the confidence and practical skills to be able to have informed and age-appropriate conversations with children about online safety, mental health and well-being, and climate change.
Each week we will post a relevant guide to support our school community's knowledge and understanding of how to keep safe online and new things to be aware of.
This week is an online safety focus on the social media platform 'Instagram'. Please click on the PDF to enlarge it.
Article 17 (access to information from the media) Every child has the right to reliable information from a variety of sources, and governments should encourage the media to provide information that children can understand. Governments must help protect children from materials that could harm them.
A big well done to the pupils who earned the Headteacher’s Award this week! Your hard work really shows. Keep it up!
Let’s give a big round of applause to this week’s 'Going for Gold' stars! It’s so exciting to see our Wall of Fame fill up with your achievements. Well done to everyone who reached Gold this week—keep up the amazing work!
