The Wellbeing Ambassadors surprised all the staff with a note of gratitude on Tuesday morning. They also organised and delivered an art activity in the playground during lunchtime which encouraged children to remember that their voice matters. The Year 4 children enjoyed completing this activity in a PSHE lesson.
Article 12 (respect for the views of the child) Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously.
Mr McQuillan hosted a Maths Parents Cafe on Tuesday, in which he explained how Maths works at Vauxhall Primary School. Attached is the presentation with some top tips on how you can support your child's learning.
Reading is a skill we continue to develop throughout our lives, but starting this process as early as possible has significant benefits for our continued success as readers. This is why, as parents and carers, you play a vital role in supporting your child in becoming a fluent reader who is confidently able to apply their reading skills across all areas of their lives.
Below are some websites that will help support reading at home with your children and provide some top tips to help support your progress. Including a free eBook library available on Oxford Owl!
EAT THEM TO DEFEAT THEM is a campaign created by Veg Power and ITV to encourage kids to eat more veg. It is award winning and proven to work. Last year over half of parents reported that their kids ate more vegetables as a result– even those with fussy eaters!
This year we'll be encouraging kids to get those gnashers to work defeating those veg one big bite at a time. So encourage them to munch, crunch and chomp. Great for raw vegetable snacks and good for their dental health too.
Article 24 (health and health services) Every child has the right to the best possible health. Governments must provide good quality health care, clean water, nutritious food, and a clean environment and education on health and well-being so that children can stay healthy. Richer countries must help poorer countries achieve this.
We are committed to helping you keep your child safe while they are exploring the digital world. With the rise of technology, it has become increasingly important for parents to be aware of the potential dangers online.
Remember, online safety is a shared responsibility between parents, schools and children. By working together, we can help ensure that our children have a positive and safe experience online. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us
This week the online safety focus is information about the social media platform 'Monkey'. Please click on the PDF to enlarge it.
For more expert advice and information around tech and digital visit Parent Zone Local Lambeth.
Article 17 (access to information from the media) Every child has the right to reliable information from a variety of sources, and governments should encourage the media to provide information that children can understand. Governments must help protect children from materials that could harm them.
Last year's winners and runners- up.
Design your very own gift card for a chance to win money to spend on books...and a bookshop visit for your class.
National Book Tokens’ annual DESIGN A NATIONAL BOOK TOKEN competition is back, inviting children of all ages to get creative and share their love for books and reading by designing their own fabulous gift cards!
The winning entrants will receive HUNDREDS of pounds worth of National Book Tokens for their schools and themselves. PLUS the overall winner will get a £10 National Book Token in their winning design for every child in their class… and the opportunity to spend them in a visit to a local bookshop!
This year’s theme is ‘Read Your Way’. Every reader is different, and there’s no right or wrong way to enjoy reading. Encourage children to think about what reading looks like for them, and what it can look like for others.
To enter, children should design a National Book Tokens gift card with this theme in mind – and thinking about what might make someone want to buy their gift card if it was on display in a real shop.
If you would like to enter, please use the template attatched. Any entries need to be submitted to Miss Pilgrim, no later than Tuesday 20th February 2024.
Article 29 (goals of education) Education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full.

From time to time your child will wake up feeling a bit unwell. Whilst we do encourage children to come to school even if they ‘feel a little unwell’ we do not want any child who is genuinely ill to come to school. Always try to send your child to school if they are feeling a little poorly, for example with a runny nose, headache, tummy ache. The school will always contact you if your child becomes too unwell. However, please do not send your child to school if they have any infectious illnesses like chicken pox, measles etc. Medical confirmation from your doctor will ensure your child’s absence is authorised. If your child has been vomiting or is suffering from diarrhoea then they must stay away from school for 48 hours from the last episode of illness. This is to ensure that any infection does not spread through the school.
Thank you
