We are committed to supporting the positive mental health and wellbeing of our whole school community (children, staff, parents and carers). Next week is Children’s Mental Health Week 2024 (5-11 February), the theme this year is My Voice Matters. At Vauxhall Primary we encourage all children to feel empowered to speak up for themselves and for others and to share what matters to them. During lessons and assemblies we will be ... We know that opportunities like these along with our planned Mental Health lessons can have a lifelong positive impact. In school, our Team 12 (Rights Respecting), Anti Bullying Ambassadors and Wellbeing Ambassadors develop their leadership skills when they meet to discuss their ideas on how to improve the school with Senior Leaders. Our pupil named “Vauxhall Safe Space” provides all children with a quiet area where they can express their emotions and discuss their mental wellbeing with one of our trained Senior Mental Health Leads.
Article 12 (respect for the views of the child) Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously.
This week, Year 5 went on a trip to the Science Museum as part of their 'Space' topic this term. They had the opportunity to see the true size of ships and learnt different facts. They also took part in a rocket ship exhibition, where they witnessed how rockets take off in an explosive experiment.
This term in History, Year 1 have been learning about the lives of Significant Individuals. This week they started learning about Emily Davison. They found out what she was fighting for and why she is a significant individual. To understand how she was feeling, they held their own Votes for Women march in the playground! They created their own posters and were extremely passionate about such an important cause!

From time to time your child will wake up feeling a bit unwell. Whilst we do encourage children to come to school even if they ‘feel a little unwell’ we do not want any child who is genuinely ill to come to school. Always try to send your child to school if they are feeling a little poorly, for example with a runny nose, headache, tummy ache. The school will always contact you if your child becomes too unwell. However, please do not send your child to school if they have any infectious illnesses like chicken pox, measles etc. Medical confirmation from your doctor will ensure your child’s absence is authorised. If your child has been vomiting or is suffering from diarrhoea then they must stay away from school for 48 hours from the last episode of illness. This is to ensure that any infection does not spread through the school.
Thank you
