As we enter into the joyous season of both Easter and Eid, I would like to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes to each and every one of you. These celebrations hold great significance in our diverse community, representing moments of reflection, renewal, and unity.
In our school, we are privileged to celebrate and honor the richness of cultural diversity that enriches our learning environment. As we observe these sacred occasions, let us reaffirm our commitment to fostering understanding, respect, and inclusion among all members of our school community.
May this season be filled with peace, joy, and abundance for you and your loved ones. Whether you are marking Easter, Eid, or simply enjoying the beauty of spring, may it be a time of renewal and rejoicing.
After an incredible journey spanning over two decades, Mrs. Da Costa will be retiring and bidding farewell to Vauxhall Primary School. Since joining our school in 2001, Mrs. Da Costa has been an integral part of our community, touching the lives of countless pupils, colleagues, and families. Her unwavering dedication, passion for teaching, and commitment to nurturing young minds have left an indelible mark on our school.
As we bid farewell to Mrs. Da Costa, we also extend our heartfelt gratitude and best wishes to her son, Mr. Da Costa, who will be embarking on a new chapter in his journey. Mr. Da Costa's journey has come full circle, starting as a bright-eyed pupil here at Vauxhall and then returning as a teacher.
As both Mrs Da Costa and Mr. Da Costa venture into new horizons, we extend our heartfelt thanks and warmest wishes for continued success and fulfillment in all future endeavors.
Lambeth Bee Roads is a project to enhance underused spaces along roadsides for wildlife and people. Lambeth Bee Roads aims to create a network of wildflower planting to support pollinators such as bees, butterflies, bugs, and hoverflies. The project involves planting and maintaining wildflowers on road verges, roundabouts and other roadside spaces across the borough.
On Monday, Reception and Year 1 went to Kennington Green to work with Lambeth Bee Roads to help with their initiative. The children were able to seed new wildflower meadows by first pinching the seeds, then bending down to the floor, Finally, the children released the seeds into the soil.
The children also had the opportunity to create their own seed ball. Their seed ball was made up of clay powder, compost, seeds and water. The children had to first mix all these ingredients together, then make it into a ball. The children then took their seed ball home, to throw into their garden or green space to allow the wild flowers to grow.
Don't forget the check Kennington Green at the beginning of summer to see all the wild flowers in the meadow planted by the children in Reception and Year 1!
Our girls football team represented our school with skill and talent on Wednesday, steamrolling several teams from Lambeth to win the Girls United Love the Game competition. Across their 9 matches our girls scored 43 and conceded only 6 goals, a fact made more impressive as our Year 5 team were often up against Year 6 students!
We cannot be more proud of these wonderful students and the way they represented our school community. Well done!
The Good to be Green system encourages children to make appropriate choices in a variety of situations. Our end of term celebration rewarded children who behaved appropriately ALL TERM.
Children from years 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 had a fantastic time at Vauxhall Park. A huge thank you to our dedicated TAs and HLTAs who organised the whole event with their usual enthusiasm.
We look forward to planning more daily, weekly and termly rewards for children in recognition of their positive behaviour.

What if my child is too anxious to go to school?
As a parent, it can be difficult to know when to send your child into school if they are feeling unwell or mildly anxious, but finding solutions is a team effort between us, you and your child, and there is support and information available to help you make the best decision for your child.
Remember....
Children can sometimes feel a little bit worried about going to school. Mostly, this is a very normal emotion.
It’s important to recognise that going into school can help children to feel less worried than letting them stay at home.
If your child is anxious over several weeks, talk to us about how we can support you.
Keep the conversation going with your child, too. Let them know it's okay to share how they're feeling, and remind them that help is always available if they need it.
