On Friday, children and staff took part in World Book Day. This is an annual celebration of authors, illustrators, books and the joy of reading.
To kick start World Book day, we held a whole school assembly in which children had the chance to parade around the hall, showing everyone their amazing costumes!
Throughout the day, classes completed a variety of activities to encourage a love for reading. Some of the activities included, a footy and booky quiz, charades, sharing favourite story books and potato book characters.
The whole school also took part in a Milk and Cookies Class Swap, where they had the opportunity to visit another class, share stories and enjoy some milk and cookies!
Thank you to everyone for making World Book Day 2024 so wonderful!
On Wednesday, KS1 children had the opportunity to watch a live theatre event, delivered by The Riot Act around the topic of road safety. Road safety is a vitally important skill that even young students need to learn in order to stay safe around roads.
‘MUFFIN DON’T GET SQUISHED!’ was a fun puppet show featuring music and poetry focusing on key safety issues such as:
How to be a safe pedestrian, including the correct and incorrect ways to walk, scoot and cycle near roads.
Stop, Look, Listen, Think and finding the safest places to cross.
The ‘safe side’ of the pavement, holding hands and using pedestrian crossings.
Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel starts on Monday 11th March and will run until Wednesday 20th March. The Big Walk and Wheel inspires pupils to make active journeys to school, improve air quality in their neighbourhood and discover how these changes benefit their world.
Each day, your child's class teacher will record how many children made active journeys to school. Schools will then be entered into a daily prize draw for rewards including equipment and accessories if over 15% of your pupils walk, use a wheelchair, scoot or cycle on that day of the challenge.
As part of our online safety offer, each week we will post a relevant guide to support our school community's knowledge and understanding of how to keep safe online and new things to be aware of.
This week the online safety focus is information about 'Tekken 8'. Please click on the PDF to enlarge it.
