Year 4's Trip to The Tower of London
A Town Explores a Book
World Book Day
...+ our regularly updated Diary Dates, Term Dates, our weekly Headteacher Awards, Weekly Attendance & Punctuality figures and TT Rockstar Champions.
Year 4 visited the Tower of London and explored the history of the building. They learnt all the different things the tower was used for. They also took part in a 'Crime and Punishment workshop' where they helped a prisoner plot their escape. A costumed presenter helped pupils to connect and contrast different stories from the Tower’s past, whilst exploring some of the historic spaces used to hold prisoners. The children were able to explore where prisoners were kept and see the graffiti which they left behind.
Cai and Sam from A Town Explores a Book, travelled all the way from St. Leonards, near Hastings, to explore conflict resolution with the Year 4 class through drama. Then we had a special assembly where they introduced the book of 'The Railway Children' and invited children to sketch their responses whilst listening to some beautiful music. These sketches will be displayed at the annual A Town Explores a Book festival in St Leonards during the Easter holidays.
All the children will have the opportunity to take part in a writing competition linked to the theme of trains with prizes to be won.
As you are aware, World Book Day is fast approaching. To celebrate World Book Day on Friday 8th March 2024, children are invited to dress up as a character from their favourite book. Staff will also be joining in! Children will get the chance to show off their outfits in a parade during assembly.
If your child chooses not to participate, they must come to school wearing their full school uniform.
