As we near the end of term, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our entire school community for your incredible support and cooperation, especially during this week’s very hot weather! Your understanding has helped us keep the children safe, cool, and happy throughout a packed and exciting week.
We’ve enjoyed a number of school trips recently, and I’d like to thank all the parents and carers who supported or attended, your involvement makes these experiences even more special for the children. A big thank you also goes to our wonderful in-school volunteers who give their time so generously. You are truly appreciated.
It was fantastic to see such a huge turnout at parents’ evening. We are grateful not only for your presence but also for your thoughtful and constructive feedback, which helps us continue to grow and improve.
We know how much you do at home too, supporting learning, encouraging routines, and helping children prepare for events. It really does make a difference. And a special thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help with our very first Year 6 prom, your enthusiasm will make it a celebration to remember!
Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram for regular updates, photos, and glimpses of everyday life at school.

Over the past few weeks, Year 1 have been busy in Design & Technology designing their very own Little Red Riding Hood hand puppets. They explored and practiced different joining techniques such as gluing, pinning, and stapling before creating their final designs. This week, the children brought their ideas to life by making their puppets – with fantastic results! Well done, Year 1!
As part of their History topic 'Now and Then', Year 1 had an exciting trip to the London Transport Museum! The children explored how transport has changed over time, comparing old buses, trams, and carriages with the modern vehicles we use today. They loved climbing aboard historic buses, pretending to be bus drivers, and spotting all the different types of transport from the past.
Year 2's Big Day Out – Exploring London’s Iconic Landmarks!
Last week, our Year 2 students laced up their walking shoes and set off on an unforgettable adventure through some of London’s most famous sights – all right on our doorstep! Their tour included the stunning Westminster Cathedral and the majestic Westminster Palace, before heading to the historic Horse Guards Parade to witness the spectacle of the Changing of the Guard.
The excitement continued with a lovely picnic in the sunshine at St James’s Park, followed by a visit to the gates of Buckingham Palace – a truly royal experience! The children were amazed by the grandeur and history around them and loved learning about these world-class landmarks in real life.
It was a wonderful reminder of just how much culture, heritage and beauty we have right here in our local area – and how inspiring it is to see it through the eyes of our curious young learners!
This week, Year 3 students embarked on an exciting adventure to the school library on a mission to track down a mysterious missing book. But when they arrived, the book was nowhere to be found! Determined to take action, the class channeled their creativity into making persuasive posters with one clear message: Do NOT open the book! With spooky warnings, clever slogans, and a dash of imagination, the posters aimed to discourage anyone who might stumble across the mysterious title. Who knows what secrets it holds?
Year 4 took an exciting and educational trip to the Western Riverside Waste Authority, where they explored what happens to our rubbish after it leaves our bins. During the visit, the children learned all about the importance of the three R’s: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. They discovered how cutting down on waste, finding new ways to use items, and recycling materials can all help protect the environment. They got a behind-the-scenes look at the waste processing centre, watched huge machines sorting different types of rubbish, and learned how materials like paper, plastic, and metal are prepared for recycling. They were amazed to find out how much energy can be saved through recycling and how even small actions at home can make a big difference. The trip was both fun and informative, leaving Year 4 inspired to become recycling champions!
Year 5 were lucky enough to travel to Lilian Baylis this week. They got to have a taster day, exhibiting what life in secondary schools are like. They completed science experiments using bunsen burners, tested for starch and proteins in foods and also explored kinetic energy! They then got to go to the sports hall and complete a Year 7 PE lesson! Well done to all for taking part so enthusiastically!
Year 6 have stepped into the shoes of real journalists to report on an event that mattered to them, during their school journey. Using their creative writing skills to inform, entertain and inspire, our young journalists chose to report on the impact of COVID-19 and reflected on where we were all now.
Year 6 also took part in a dynamic literacy workshop with secondary teachers from Lilian Baylis Technology School. The sessions included thought-provoking debates, engaging drama, creative storytelling and insightful reading prediction activities. It was a fantastic opportunity or them to build confidence and build key literacy skills alongside enjoying a taste of secondary school learning!

The 'WakeUpWednesday' guides empower and equip parents, carers and educators with the confidence and practical skills to be able to have informed and age-appropriate conversations with children about online safety, mental health and well-being, and climate change.
Each week we will post a relevant guide to support our school community's knowledge and understanding of how to keep safe online and new things to be aware of.
This week is a online safety focus on 'Apple iPads'. Please click on the PDF to enlarge it.

School Attendance Matters
As we count down to the final two weeks before the holidays, it’s more important than ever to keep school attendance strong and consistent. Even a few missed days can lead to lost learning time and disrupt your child’s progress.
Many families may be considering family holidays, but please check school term dates before making any travel arrangements. Even a few days of missed school can have a real impact on your child’s learning and progress.
Taking children out of school during term time—including days surrounding the holidays—can result in a fine of £80.
Let’s work together to keep attendance high and learning on track. Your support makes all the difference!
