...+ our regularly updated Diary Dates, Term Dates, our weekly Headteacher Awards, Weekly Attendance & Punctuality figures.
This week, Year 5 and Year 6 returned from their residential trip to Windmill Hill Activity Centre. The children spent the weekend engaging in a wide range of activities and team-building challenges.
They had a fantastic time abseiling, raft-building, and climbing. The highlight for many was the thrilling zip wire experience! In addition to these activities, the children made lifelong memories around the campfire, singing, dancing, and playing football with their friends.
It was a weekend filled with fun, adventure, and camaraderie, creating unforgettable moments for everyone involved.
Outside in EYFS, the strawberries are ripening! The children have been fascinated by observing the life cycle of the strawberry plants. They have enjoyed watching the strawberries grow from flowers into delicious, red fruits. This hands-on experience has sparked their curiosity and provided valuable learning opportunities about nature, growth, and the importance of patience. The excitement is building as they look forward to tasting the fruits of their labour!
Learning in Reception
In Reception Class, the children have been learning about ‘The Three Little Pigs’. The children created wonderful pieces of writing about the characters and objects in the story. We have some award-winning writers!
The children in Reception had a competition to build houses for the pigs out of junk-modelling materials. The winners received a tub of playdough each.
The children have been exploring construction using Mobilo; They used Mobilo to construct: a dump truck digger, plane, helicopter, truck and an aeroplane.
Learning in Nursery
As part of their PSED learning, the children in Nursery have been drawing their pictures of things that they might be scared of or worried about. The children fed their worries away to the 'Worry Monster' to gobble up their worries to go away. They then made worry dolls to take home - to talk too if they ever feel scared or worried.
Some of the children shared their worries with the class...
"Scared of the new house, because I don't want to go there."
"I'm worried about the children hurting me with the ball."
Over the last couple of weeks, Early Years and Year 1 have been observing caterpillars - learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. The children started with tiny caterpillars and watched them form a chrysalis, then the children observed them turning into beautiful butterflies. The children then released the butterflies into the school garden.
The 'WakeUpWednesday' guides empower and equip parents, carers and educators with the confidence and practical skills to be able to have informed and age-appropriate conversations with children about online safety, mental health and wellbeing, and climate change.
Each week we will post a relevant guide to support our school community's knowledge and understanding of how to keep safe online and new things to be aware of.
This week is a mental health and wellbeing focus with information about 'School Avoidance'. Please click on the PDF to enlarge it.
