Year 6's Big Adventure Awaits! 🎉
What a fantastic way to celebrate the end of SATs! I'm absolutely thrilled to share that our wonderful Year 6 pupils will be heading off to PGL Marchants Hill in Surrey for an adventure they'll never forget.
After all their hard work and dedication during SATs week, our Year 6s have truly earned this exciting residential trip. PGL Marchants Hill offers the perfect opportunity for them to challenge themselves with new activities, build even stronger friendships, and create memories that will last a lifetime , all while having an absolute blast!
From high ropes and zip wires to team-building challenges and evening entertainment, the children will experience activities that build confidence, resilience, and independence. It's these experiences beyond the classroom that help shape our pupils into well-rounded young people ready for their next adventure at secondary school.
I know our Year 6 team will take excellent care of them, and I can't wait to hear all about their adventures when they return.
Here's to our amazing Year 6s, you've worked so hard, and you absolutely deserve this wonderful experience. Have the most incredible time!
Look out for photos on our instagram page and in next week's newsletter! 📸
During today’s PE lesson, the children had a fantastic time developing their basketball skills. They worked brilliantly together, learning how to share, collaborate as part of a team, and follow instructions carefully throughout the activities. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm, teamwork, and growing confidence on display.
Year 1 had a wonderful visit to the Science Museum! The children explored The Garden, where they investigated water, light, sound, and building activities through hands-on play.
They also enjoyed visiting the Pattern Pod, discovering patterns, shapes, colours, sounds, and movement through exciting interactive displays.
As part of our History learning, the children were excited to see examples of early flight, including learning more about the Wright brothers and the famous Montgolfier brothers hot air balloon flight.
It was a fantastic opportunity to bring their classroom learning to life!
This term in PE, Year 2 took part in many exciting activities that helped them build their physical skills, teamwork, and confidence. The children practised balancing, throwing and catching, agility, coordination, and simple team games. They also enjoyed dance and movement activities.
Throughout the term, the children showed great enthusiasm and determination while learning new skills. They improved their ability to work together, listen carefully to instructions, and show kindness and fairness during games and activities. It has been lovely to see their confidence grow and to watch them encourage and support each other.
Well done to all of the children for their hard work, positive attitudes, and excellent effort during PE lessons this term. We are very proud of the progress they have made!
Eagle class have been thoroughly enjoying their Spanish lessons this term. They have been learning how to say “I know how to…” using sé in Spanish, and “I do not know how to…” using no sé. The children have worked hard to recognise, recall and spell 10 action verbs in Spanish, using them to create both positive and negative sentences. They have also begun combining their ideas into longer, more complex sentences using the conjunctions y (and) and pero (but). It has been wonderful to see their confidence and enthusiasm grow as they develop their Spanish speaking and writing skills.
Walking Like an Egyptian!
Year 4 brought their classroom learning to life with an exciting trip to the British Museum. As part of their Ancient Egypt topic, the children explored fascinating artefacts, discovered how people lived thousands of years ago, and learnt more about mummies, hieroglyphics, and pharaohs. The visit gave pupils a wonderful opportunity to deepen their understanding through hands-on experiences and sparked lots of curiosity and enthusiasm for history!
Year 5 have enthusiastically begun exploring the beautiful book The Whale by Vita Murrow. Using the striking front cover as inspiration, the children applied their inference skills to ask thoughtful open-ended questions and suggest possible answers, carefully justifying their ideas using clues from the illustration. Alongside this, the class explored the meaning of the term hoax and discussed how stories and appearances can sometimes be misleading. In Maths, Year 5 have started preparing for the transition into Year 6 by developing their understanding of highest common factors and lowest common multiples, using reasoning and problem-solving skills to tackle increasingly challenging calculations. Also a reminder to please come down to watch our class performance: The Art of Locking In on Thursday 21st May at 10:30! The children have worked really hard and can’t wait to share it with their family!

Every child has a legal right to a full-time education, and parents are responsible for making sure their child attends school regularly. Good attendance helps children achieve their best and keeps them safe.
Our expectations:
Arrive on time – School starts at 8.50am. Children arriving late miss important learning and can feel unsettled
Every day counts – Even a few days' absence can affect progress and friendships
Let us know – If your child is unwell, please contact the school office or report via the Studybugs app on the first day of absence
Sun Safety Reminder ☀️😎🧴
As the weather gets warmer, please remember to protect your child from the sun:
What you can do:
Apply high-factor sunscreen (SPF 30+) before school
Send your child with a sun hat to wear at playtime and lunch
Provide a water bottle so they can stay hydrated throughout the day
What we'll do:
Encourage children to play in shaded areas when possible
Remind children to wear their hats outdoors
Ensure water is readily available
Working together, we can keep all our children safe and comfortable in the sun.
If you have any concerns about a child's wellbeing, please contact our safeguarding team via the school office : office@vauxhallprimary.org.uk
