Welcome back! We hope you all had a restful and enjoyable half-term break. We’ve started the final stretch of the school year with real energy and excitement.
This week, we’ve had our fantastic Stay and Play session in EYFS—it was lovely to see so many of you engaging with your children in their learning spaces. We’re also excited to invite parents to the launch of KS1 and KS2 Stay and Learn, happening on Tuesday, 10th June from 9:00 am to 9:50 am. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience your child’s learning environment firsthand and take part in classroom activities together. For health and safety reasons, we kindly ask that you book your attendance in advance by clicking the link here.
While the sunshine hasn’t quite been guaranteed, we’re still celebrating the summer term with the launch of £1 Friday Ice Lolly Day! Children (and parents!) can purchase an ice lolly at the end of the day using cash or card. All proceeds go directly to our school fund, helping us buy extras like our new playground games and games tables (pictured) the children love so much.
Thank you to everyone who has already completed our video/photo consent form. If you haven’t yet had a chance, you can still do so by clicking here
Wishing you a lovely weekend from all of us here at school.
This week in reception, we have been learning ‘Odd’ and ‘Even’. This is a new concept for us and we have really enjoyed learning it! We used our previous experience of investigating doubles to begin to practically explore odd and even numbers.
This term in Year 1, the children have started an exciting new topic in DT: textile puppets! They explored different techniques for joining fabric, including using glue, safety pins, and staples. The children tested each method and discussed which was the most effective for creating their own puppets. We’re looking forward to seeing their creativity come to life as they begin designing and making their final pieces!
In our art work this term, the children have been exploring the relationship between music and the visual arts. They discovered how artists often work in collaboration and are inspired by different art forms, especially sound. Through the work of various artists, the children learned how music can influence and inspire visual expression. They experimented with mark making, using rhythm, tempo, and mood in music to guide their creative responses on paper.
Building on these expressive techniques, the children then developed their making skills by creating imaginative collages and even designing their own inventive instruments. The project culminated in a joyful, collaborative performance as the children formed their own class "orchestra"—a celebration of art, sound, and teamwork!
Year 3 Rock Stars!
This term in Science, Year 3 have been exploring the fascinating world of rocks! The children have been learning how to sort and classify different types of rocks based on their colour, texture, and other features. From smooth and shiny to rough and grainy, our young geologists have been hands-on, investigating what makes each rock unique. It’s been a fun and engaging way to learn about the natural world around us!
In their Science topic on Electricity, the Year 4 children explored how electrical circuits work. They were given wires with crocodile clips and a bulb, and their challenge was to figure out how to make the bulb light up. Through hands-on experimentation, they discovered how to create a complete circuit. They also tested a variety of everyday objects such as paper clips, scissors, and paper to see which materials would allow electricity to flow and light the bulb. Year 4 really enjoyed this practical and engaging experiment, learning a lot about conductors and insulators along the way.
What an incredible start to the week it has been! Some of our Years 5 & 6 children have had an unforgettable time at PGL, filled with adventure, teamwork, and plenty of laughter. From conquering high the trapeze to raft building, they’ve challenged themselves, made memories, and strengthened friendships along the way.
A huge thank you to Ms. Davis, Mr. Sime & Mrs. Henry for accompanying the children on this journey and ensuring they had the best experience possible. Their enthusiasm and support made all the difference.
We are so proud of how well the children embraced every challenge with determination and excitement. I’m sure they came home with lots of stories —we hope you enjoy hearing all about their adventures!
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to more exciting experiences ahead.
To support our students learning about money and finance, we’re excited to host an Eid-themed Enterprise Fair after school on Thursday 12th June! Join us in celebrating Eid and supporting our students as they showcase handmade cards, decorations, treats, and more.
Thank you for supporting this special event!
We’re excited to invite all families and friends to our Summer Sizzler on Wednesday 16th July from 3:30pm. Come along for an afternoon of fun, food, and community spirit!
If you’d like to hire a table to sell items or promote your business, tables are available for £15. Please speak to Miss Pilgrim or contact the school office to book.
We’re also welcoming donations or contributions for the event—please drop anything you'd like to offer at the school office.
We can’t wait to see you there!
The 'WakeUpWednesday' guides empower and equip parents, carers and educators with the confidence and practical skills to be able to have informed and age-appropriate conversations with children about online safety, mental health and well-being, and climate change.
Each week we will post a relevant guide to support our school community's knowledge and understanding of how to keep safe online and new things to be aware of.
This week is a online safety focus on 'Emojis'. Please click on the PDF to enlarge it.

School Attendance Matters
Every school day counts — even a few days off can lead to lost learning time. This is the time of year when many families may be planning trips out of London or abroad, so please remember to check the school term dates before making any bookings.
Important Reminder:
Parents may be fined £80 for taking children out of school during term time, including days just before or after the school holidays.
Let’s work together to support your child’s learning by keeping attendance strong and consistent!
