December 12th is Christmas Jumper Day - Save the Children's annual event which raises money for the children who need it most.
Every December, millions of people across the United Kingdom (and beyond!) put on a festive knit at their workplace, school or with friends and make a donation to help give children the magical future they deserve.
We invite you to send your child in a festive Christmas jumper—no need to buy a new one! Feel free to get creative and make your own. On the same day, we'll also be enjoying our Christmas lunch together.
By dressing up and being silly you'll be helping children facing serious issues like war, hunger and poverty. Find out more about the children you'll be helping.
The children have been working hard this term, so now it’s time to celebrate! Come along to the The Grinch After Party, where the children can dance, have fun, and enjoy a festive send-off for the holidays.
Children can come in their best party outfit. Let’s make it a night to remember—you’ve earned it!
A huge thank you to everyone for their hard work and effort – we’re thrilled to announce that our school came 1st place in the StreetTag competition and won a fantastic £500 prize! We plan to use this money to fund new activities in the playground to keep the children active and engaged. I hope you all had fun along the way collecting tags and staying active! Well done, everyone!
Bring the whole family to our Winter Market for an evening of festive fun! Enjoy a variety of stalls, food, music, and activities for everyone.
There’s still time to contribute to your child’s class stall or to donate food for the event. If you’d like to help out, please get in touch with your child’s teacher or the school office.
We can’t wait to see you there!
Reception's story book of the week was 'The Jolly Postman'. The children enjoyed listening to the story and were actively engaged. They used some descriptive words and sentences to describe the Jolly Postman. For example: he has a round face, blue hat, green shoes and many more.
This week, Year 1 dived into their new book, 'Billy and the Beast', with a thrilling surprise! They arrived one morning to discover the classroom in chaos—visited by the Terrible Beast! It left fur, ate fruit, and caused a stir. The children created fantastic wanted posters, using statements, questions, and commands to describe the mischievous creature.
During their computing lesson this week, Year 1 have been drawing and labeling shapes and colours.
In Year 2, the children have been using different strategies to help them with addition problems.
Year 3 have been exploring 'The BFG' this term! This week, the children paired up to make predictions about what might happen in each chapter, which led to plenty of creative ideas and lively discussions. Later, they watched The BFG movie to see how their predictions compared to the story on screen and to rethink their ideas where needed. It was a fun and exciting way to bring the book to life!
Year 3 have been investigating gymnastic counter balance techniques in this week's PE lesson.
In Year 4, the children recently discovered a robotic arm in the classroom, along with some screws and nails along the tables- they were in great shock. They began to wonder what this could be and made predictions about where they think it came from. Then, some of the adults in the school discovered the same thing within the Year 4 classroom. The children then watched a video of the adults explaining what they had found, and the questions that they had about the mysterious robotic arm. As the children listened to the videos, on their speech bubbles, they wrote down what the adults unearthed and the questions they had. In their English books, they then began to use these sentences and turned them into quotes using inverted commas.
Year 5 analysed characters from 'The Tempest', discussing who was good or bad. Miranda was seen as innocent, and Antonio as bad for betraying Prospero. The debate over Caliban showed empathy, as students recognised he was a victim of Prospero’s injustice. Prospero was debated maturely, with students agreeing his actions were cruel, but acknowledging he wasn’t completely evil since he spared lives. It was a thoughtful and engaging discussion!
Year 6 had an inspiring week filled with learning about freedom, human rights, and aspirations for the future.
They visited IntoUniversity, where they explored university life, looked at a prospectus to discover courses, Halls of Residence, and Societies. The children shared their dreams on University Leaves and added them to a University Tree.
At the Black Cultural Archives in Brixton, they learnt about Black abolitionists in Georgian London, explored artefacts, and examined representations of African people in European art.
In a Freedom workshop, they discussed the meaning of freedom, the effects of lacking rights, and how Human Rights protect us. The children impressed Iqra and Niamh with their knowledge of Rights Respecting Articles and created Fairtrade and anti-slavery protest posters and acrostic poems.
It was a week full of powerful learning and inspiration!
The 'WakeUpWednesday' guides empower and equip parents, carers and educators with the confidence and practical skills to be able to have informed and age-appropriate conversations with children about online safety, mental health and well-being, and climate change.
Each week we will post a relevant guide to support our school community's knowledge and understanding of how to keep safe online and new things to be aware of.
This week is a online safety/well-being focus on 'Mental-health and Well-being apps'. Please click on the PDF to enlarge it.
A huge congratulations to the pupils who earned the Rights Respecting Award this week! Your dedication to respecting and upholding everyone's rights truly shines. Keep up the fantastic work.
Let’s give a big round of applause to this week’s 'Going for Gold' stars! It’s so exciting to see our Wall of Fame fill up with your achievements. Well done to everyone who reached Gold this week—keep up the amazing work!
A huge congratulations to our Times Table Rock Stars for their outstanding achievements! We are thrilled to recognise our Most Valuable Players (MVPs) for their dedication and hard work. Their enthusiasm and effort in mastering their times tables is truly inspiring. Keep rocking those numbers!
