+ our regularly updated Diary Dates, Term Dates, our weekly Headteacher Awards, Weekly Attendance & Punctuality figures and TT Rockstars.
As we reach the end of another wonderful term, I want to take a moment to say thank you and to wish you all a very happy festive season.
Our incredible children have filled this term with joy, laughter and amazing learning. I'm so proud of each and every one of them. Our dedicated staff have worked incredibly hard with creativity and commitment to making Vauxhall Primary School such a special place.
A huge thank you for those who attended, donated or volunteered at our Winter Market. It was a joy to see our community coming together once again to support our school. Thanks to your generosity we raised (drum roll... ) £848! 🥳 We will keep you updated on how we use the funds to support the pupils.
Whether you're celebrating Christmas, enjoying time with loved ones, or simply taking a well-deserved rest, I hope this season brings you warmth, happiness and special memories.
Wishing you all peace, joy and a happy, healthy New Year.
Happy Retirement Mrs Allinson !
This term, we say a fond farewell to a long-standing and much-loved member of the Vauxhall Primary School community. Mrs Allinson will be retiring at the end of this term after being with us since 2003.
During her time at Vauxhall, Mrs Allinson has taught and supported hundreds of pupils, always offering care, encouragement and dedication. She has led a variety of clubs, enriched the Early Years with her love of gardening, and inspired countless children through her passion for learning (especially phonics!).
Mrs Allinson will be greatly missed by both staff and pupils, and we thank her sincerely for her many years of service. We wish her a happy, healthy and adventurous retirement.
Farewell Miss Mya !
This term, we also say farewell to Miss Mya, a valued long-term Teaching Assistant in EYFS. She has supported our youngest learners with warmth, patience and dedication, making a positive impact during her time at Vauxhall Primary School.
Miss Mya is moving on to a permanent position within Lambeth to further her career, and while she will be missed, we look forward to welcoming new members of staff in January, who we are confident will continue to support our children with the same care and commitment.
This week in EYFS, the children have shown a great effort and improvement in their phonics and letter formation. Please see some of their independent writing during our soft start session today.
Over the last few weeks, the Year 1 Cheetahs have been learning about partitioning numbers using the part–whole model and bar models. They have been finding missing parts and recognising parts and wholes. The children have used a range of manipulatives to support their learning, such as counters and cubes, and have explored all the different ways numbers up to 5 can be partitioned.

In D&T, Eagle Class have been learning how to sew and cross-stitch. They used a template to cut out an animal or created their own creature or design. The children then pinned their designs onto a piece of fabric and sewed them carefully in place. After this, they sewed their two pieces of fabric together carefully creating a cushion. Everyone worked super hard and showed great concentration and creativity throughout the process. Well done Eagle class.
Year 4 enjoyed an inspiring visit to the National Poetry Library, where they took part in a hands-on workshop exploring how poems are written and listened to a selection of poems being read aloud. The children then walked along the Southbank, using the sights, sounds and atmosphere of the river and city to spark their creativity. Back at school, they were full of ideas and enthusiasm, ready to turn their experiences into original poems.
This past week Year 5 have been mastering their column multiplication methods and also begun to build up to solve short division. It is so great to see the enthusiasm all children have in their times tables, and this enthusiasm has made teaching them Maths an absolute pleasure. Well done to all of you!
Year 6 pupils have been busy getting creative by producing their own Christmas-themed animations. Using digital tools and lots of imagination, the children designed and animated festive characters. The animations were proudly premiered at this week’s Winter Warmer, where they were enjoyed by families and friends.
The 'WakeUpWednesday' guides empower and equip parents, carers and educators with the confidence and practical skills to be able to have informed and age-appropriate conversations with children about online safety, mental health and well-being, and climate change.
Each week we will post a relevant guide to support our school community's knowledge and understanding of how to keep safe online and new things to be aware of.
