On the request of the Director/CQA, the policy on Academic Work Norm and Workload Calculation Model of the Faculty of Applied Science and the web-based Staff Workload Assessment Portal (SWAP) were presented by the Coordinator/FQAC at 28th meeting of the CQA held on 02.04.2025. In addition, Dr. S. Kirushanth presented the application tool in practice at the Department of Physical Science to observe the progress of the academic sessions via online.

In Collaboration with the Centre for Quality Assurance (CQA), University of Vavuniya, the Staff Development Centre (SDC) of the University of Vavuniya organized a Workshop on "Quality assurance in Higher Education & Effective Management in Higher Education" for the Academic and Administrative staff members of the University of Vavuniya held on 16. 10.2024 from 01.30 pm to 04.30 pm. Er. Dhananjay Mali, Dean, School of Environmental Science and Management, CSIBER, Kolhapur, India and Dr. Shruti S. Jamsandekar, Assistant Professor, School of Computer Science and Applications and IQAC Coordinator CSIBER, Kolhapur, India served as the resource persons for this workshop.

On the request of the Vice-Chancellor, the web-based application portal (SWAP - Staff Workload Assessment Portal) was presented by the Coordinator/FQAC on 15.10.2024 in presence with the Dean/Applied Science for self-assessment calculating the workload of academic staff as per the Work Norm Policy and the Procedure for Academic Accountability and Workload Calculation Model of the Faculty of Applied Science approved by the Council at its 14th meeting on 26.11.2022, and the enhanced version was already presented at the 168th Faculty Board meeting on 02.10.2024 by the Coordinator/FQAC to practice in the faculty.

There was a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor held on 15.10.2024 by the Coordinator/FQAC with the Dean/FAS to discuss improving the action plan 2024 - 2028 of the degree programmes BSc in Applied Mathematics and Computing offered by the Department of Physical Science and BSc Honours in Environmental Science offered by the Department of Bio-science.

The action plans for the implementation of the best practices of the degree programmes BSc in Applied Mathematics and Computing, and BSc Honours in Environmental Science have been submitted by the Council of the University of Vavuniya.

Workshop on Workload Calculation Model to all academic staff of the Faculty of Applied Science was held on 23.08.2023. It has been presented in a special CQA meeting held on 14.09.2023 and the Senate meeting held on 18.09.2023.

Two days visit for the programme review of the degree programme BSc in Applied Mathematics and Computing conducted by the Department of Physical Science, Faculty of Applied Science was held on 20th and 21st of December 2022.
The programme review panel consists of Prof. SSN Perera (Review Chair), Prof. S. Vasanthapriyan, and Dr. Iresha Atthanayake visited the entities of the Department, Faculty, University related to the degree programme and met the stakeholders including the Alumni via Zoom for the review.

Two days site visit for the programme review for the degree programme in Information and Communication Technology (Presently IT) conducted by the Department of Physical science, Faculty of Applied Science was held on 24th (Thu) & 25th (Fri) of November 2022.
The programme review panel consists of Dr. Ruwan Wickramarachchi (Review Chair), Prof. (Dr.) MIS. Safeena and Prof. Dhammike P. Dissanayake visited the entities of the department, faculty, University and met the stakeholders on these days.

5. A session on Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development (AHEAD) Project
A briefing session on Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development (AHEAD) Project by the Ministry of Higher Education and Highways and University Grants Commission was held on 18.04.2018 at 1.30 pm at the Auditorium, Park Road, Vavuniya Campus. Dr. E.Y.A. Charles, Director, OTS Office, University of Jaffna presented required information with regard to the project to the audience of intellectuals of the Vavuniya Campus.
4. Hands on Training on QA activities in University system & Role of Management Trainees at IQAU & IQACs
A Hands on Training on QA Activities in University System and Role of Management Trainees attached to IQAU and IQACs of various faculties was held on 30.01.2018 at 1.30 pm at the IQAU office, UoJ by Prof. Prof. G. Migunthan, Director/IQAU/UoJ.

3. SER Writing Workshop on Internal Quality Assurance Enhancement
The Self-Evaluation Report writing workshop for Institutional Review (IR) of the Vavuniya Campus of the University of Jaffna jointly organised by IQACs of Faculty of Applied Science and Faculty of Business Studies of the Vavuniya Campus held on 09th February 2018 from 8.30 am to 11.30 am. The committee members including academic, academic supportive and non-academic staff of the IR criteria for the Vavuniya Campus actively participated in this workshop. The Director, IQAU, Prof. G. Migunthan explained process of the review process and writing the report. Furthermore, he clarified the issues raised by the members.

Migunthan explained the functions of the IQAU, IQAC, and the IR and PR processes. Furthermore, he solved the doubts raised by the participants in the workshop.

Resource persons Dr.(Ms).A.Nanthakumaran, Mr.B.Yogarajah and Mr.S.Thirukumaran attached to Faculty of Applied Science presented with regard to SLQF, best practices and the standards for the Quality Enhancement in the University systems in Sri Lanka. Furthermore, Principles, Quality Enhancement Policy & Framework, By-laws, duties, responsibilities and activities of the IQAU and IQAC were presented. In addition, IR & PR criteria and review process were also explained.
Moreover, Questionnaire Tools developed in a workshop conducted by IQAU regarding Students’ course evaluation, Graduate exit survey, Graduate tracer study, Peer evaluation, Lecturer course review, Faculty satisfaction survey and Employer survey were circulated for discussion.
