Awareness Workshop on Disability for Academic, Executive and Non- academic

Support Center for Persons with Disabilities conducted a “Disability Awareness Workshop” for Academic, Executive, and Non-academic staff in two parts on 26th August 2022.

The purpose of the training is to provide awareness regarding the purpose and activities of the newly established Support Center for Persons with Disability in our university and how to integrate differently-abled persons into our university in the future.


Dr. M. Malaravan, Consultant Eye Surgeon, Teaching Hospital, Jaffna, and Mr. V. Subramaniyam, Member of the National Council for Persons with Disability participated as Resource Persons in this Workshop.

The first part was conducted from 9.00 am to 11.00 am for Academic and Executive staff, and the 02nd part from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm for Non-academic staff.

100 participants participated in this workshop including 40 Academic, Executive, and 46 Non-academic.

Awareness Workshop on Disability for students (Faculty of Applied Science)

Support Center for Persons with Disabilities conducted a “Disability Awareness Workshop” for Selected students from the Faculty of Applied Science 60 students participated in this workshop, which was conducted from 1.30 pm to 4 pm on November 25, 2022.


The purpose of the workshop is to provide awareness regarding the objective and activities of the newly established a support center for persons with disabilities in our university and how to integrate differently-abled persons in our university in the future.

Workshop on Learning Accessiblity

On 10.11.2022 the Vice Chancellor, Director/ Support Center for Persons with Disability, and Dean of the Faculty of Technology discussed with Dr. Jennifer George/Head of the Department of Computing University of Goldsmiths, London.

 Dr. Jenifer George highlighted networking practicing and sharing online workshops, seminars, and learning accessibility. At the same time the Vice Chancellor requested to sign an MOU with the University of Goldsmiths, For that Dr. Jennifer said she would check the opportunity with their team.

 Currently, she agrees to be a resource person for the workshop, which is conducted through the Support Center for Persons with Disabilities of the University of Vavuniya.


Workshop on Technical Accessibility

Support Center for Persons with Disabilities conducted a workshop on “Technical Accessibility” for Faculty of Technological Studies students held on 06th June 2023 at the Faculty of Technological Studies

The workshop related to the barriers to learning and how we can use technology to remove these learning barriers for students.access to pull together the correct resources that already exist and develop what doesn’t exist .
