The Action Steps are near-term efforts Vassar can undertake to help use reach our Climate Action Plan Goals, and our ultimate target of carbon neutrality no later than 2030.
The majority of these were developed by the Climate Action Teams for their respective topics, with two exceptions.
The role of sustainability in the curriculum falls outside of the direct operational scope of the Climate Action Plan, but a recommendation is being advanced for an Action Step that would lay the groundwork for a separate assessment of sustainability across the curriculum.
The Climate Action Plan by and large concerns how Vassar can reduce its overall impact on the environment. A final Action Step proposes the development of a separate plan to address how the campus and community can bolster its resilience to the impacts of climate change already underway.
Moving forward, the Climate Action Teams will be charged with assisting in helping develop plans for implementation of the Action Steps as well developing new Action Steps to continue to progress toward our overall sustainability goals.
