In addition to some short stories and personal narrative style essays, we'll read a few different novels throughout the course of the year.

Book Clubs/Choose Your Own Novels!
–Overview of the foundational genres and styles:
–Creative Nonfiction
–Fiction
–Poetry
–Independent study of your genre of choice
Form writing groups based on common interests
–Focus on reading from a variety of authors in your selected genre and creating a portfolio of work
Pick a novel with your group
Meet weekly and discuss your reactions to the story
Get into groups based on shared writing interests (fiction, poetry, memoir, etc)
Share your work with one another, do practice prompts together in class, write and revise individual work
Express your ideas about a novel/story/theme in creative ways using a variety of formats/mediums
Projects include (but are not limited to): Playlists, Podcasts and videos, visual art, digital multimedia
About me
I've been a teacher here at Skyview for the last 12 years. This is my 6th year teaching Creative Writing, and it is one of my favorite classes to teach. I'm in the 900 wing, so come say hi and ask me any questions about the course if you're interested!
