Tryouts:
Monday, June 1-Wednesday, June 3- 7:00-9:00p in the Skyview HS Gym. (We schedule tryouts later in the day so players that play football/other sports have the ability to do both).
This is a competitive team that will represent Skyview HS at summer league tournaments/games. We usually select 10-12 student-athletes per team (Varsity, JV and Freshman), and due to the large numbers, there will be a cut process. Teams will be formed at the end of the tryout on Wednesday, June 3
It will be important to communicate to the coaching staff if your summer plans/other sports will conflict with the schedule before tryouts. We try to accommodate players’ other schedules (other sports, vacations, etc.) as much as possible.
Schedule:
You can find the most up-to-date schedule on our Skyview Basketball Calendar
When we get updated schedules and brackets from the tournaments, we will add that information to our 2026 Summer Tournament Information Page
The teams will participate in:
Practices- Mostly 7-9p in June while school is in session
Skills development sessions – Mostly after June – times will vary and be announced at a later date
Three (JV/Frosh) or Four (Varsity) tournaments (locations dependent on team)
Team camp (Location TBD)- but attending will be dependent on player interest/space available
Clearance (beginning early May 2026)
Students will have to be cleared medically for Summer Basketball. They need to fill out the clearance information on Final Forms and have a current (within the last 2 years) physical. Students must clear for summer basketball and submit the doctor's physical form through Final Forms (same as VPS Middle Schools). You can find clearance information on the VPS Final Forms website or on the Skyview Athletics website
Expectations:
Summer Basketball is a great tool to learn a new system and to begin to implement it on the court. The coaches will be teaching the basic offenses and defenses that we will utilize during our regular season. We will be focused on getting better every day at the things that matter in the long run: Positivity, Accountability, Togetherness, Hard Work and Selflessness. Wins and losses will not be the focus. Please help us by recognizing and acknowledging the improvement, not the results of summer basketball.
