About the Teacher...
Dear Home School Support Families,
I am excited to work with you in our Home School Support program! I look forward to getting to know you and your children, and to support you however I can.
I began teaching 4th and 5th grade students in the Battle Ground School district in 1990. I gave up that position to stay home with my son after he was born in 1993, and began working in a home school support program similar to this one. After two more children, and five years later, I helped develop and direct a home school co-op at our church where my husband serves as a pastor. I directed and taught in this program for several years and loved being so involved in my children’s education. I look back fondly on that time of building a strong foundation in our kids, while making so many wonderful memories!
As our children grew older, we decided to have them attend our neighborhood school, Marshall Elementary. I ended up teaching at Marshall for 11 years, beginning with kindergarten and spending most of those years teaching 3rd grade. In 2015 I made the change to teach 3rd grade part time at Vancouver Home Connection, which I absolutely loved!
After 30+ years of teaching I decided it was time to make a transition and use what I have learned over the years to support families with home schooling, an educational option which I wholeheartedly support! Our children are now grown and we have three young grandchildren, who I am blessed to spend time with on a weekly basis, so continuing to work part time is ideal for me.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time outdoors, walking and hiking, or just playing with our grandchildren! I love being involved in our church ministry and activities, and spending time with family and friends as often as possible.
I look forward to the time I get to spend with you, and will do all I can to support and encourage you as you work hard at one of the most important and rewarding opportunities of your life!
Blessings,
Kristin Beck
