Vanguard Preparatory PTSO (Parent Teacher Staff Organization) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization benefiting Vanguard Preparatory School in Apple Valley, Ca. that is administered by parent volunteers. The PTSO focuses on encouraging school community involvement, identifying and fulfilling needs within our school, and supporting the Vanguard Preparatory and Apple Valley Unified School District missions.
We receive this question every year and it's a very complex one to answer as we are involved in many facets of the Vanguard Community.
We organize several events: Fall Festival, Santa Photos, Holiday Store, and Valentine's Grams. We also organize uniform buy backs wherein lightly used and donated school uniforms may be purchased for fifty cents a piece. Community Clean Ups are also organized by our board which helps keep our school's surrounding neighborhood clean of trash.
We provide support for: Vanguard Preparatory school photos, Discovery Fairs (science fairs), Thanksgiving Food Drive, Toy Drive, Field Day as well as the AVUSD events of Harvest of Giving and Children's Day.
We provide awards and experiences: medals and trophies for Discovery Fairs; award pins for attendance, honor roll and community service awards; drinking water for the 4th grade portables that have no indoor plumbing; $5 per student for grades TK-6th in reimbursement for classroom costs or field trip support; referee costs for on-campus games; Young Author's books and trophies; and lanyards for kindergarten students.
We also assess and evaluate how to meet new needs as identified throughout the school year.
