๐๐ Homecoming: Royal Pride, Royal Traditions! ๐๐
Homecoming Week is here, and we are ready to celebrate our Royal pride with a week full of school spirit, exciting events, and unforgettable memories! We encourage all of our Royals to participate in our themed dress-up days, cheer on our student-athletes, and join us as we create new traditions at Van Gogh Secondary.
Students are encouraged to participate in each day's dress-up theme and show off their Royal pride. Please refer to our campus Homecoming dress-up calendar for the daily themes and guidelines.
Let's make this Homecoming Week one to remember! ๐
๐๐ชฉ๐บ6th - 8th Dance: Dress to Impress!
Our middle school Royals are getting ready to dance the afternoon away! To help make Friday's Homecoming Dance enjoyable and convenient for families, middle school students may arrive at school already dressed in their Homecoming dance outfits OR participate in Friday's designated Homecoming dress-up theme.
Students choosing to wear their dance attire during the school day must ensure their outfits are school-appropriate and follow campus dress code expectations. Clothing should provide appropriate coverage, allow students to participate comfortably in their classes, and be suitable for a school setting.
We encourage families to help their Royals select outfits that are both festive and appropriate. Whether students choose to dress up for the dance or show their school spirit, we look forward to celebrating with them!

๐ Benchmark Assessments: Help Your Royal Shine!
Our upcoming benchmark assessments will take place the last two weeks of October! These assessments provide valuable information about student progress, help teachers identify areas for additional support, and guide instruction as we continue preparing our Royals for academic success.
Families play an important role in helping students feel confident, focused, and ready to do their best.
How can you help?
๐ด Prioritize Rest: Ensure your child gets a good night's sleep before each assessment.
โฐ Attendance Matters: Please make every effort to have your child at school on time and avoid scheduling appointments or early pickups during testing.
๐ Leave Backpacks at Home: Students participating in benchmark testing do NOT need to bring their backpacks on their scheduled testing days.
๐ Encourage Confidence: Remind your child to take their time, read carefully, and give their best effort.
Please review the October calendar for specific assessment dates. We appreciate your partnership in helping us create a positive, distraction-free testing environment for all students!
A heartfelt THANK YOU to the wonderful parents who joined us for our recent Royal Round Table! We are incredibly grateful for the time you took out of your busy schedules to connect with us, share your perspectives, and offer thoughtful ideas for creating more opportunities for family involvement on our campus.
Your feedback reminds us that some of the most meaningful improvements happen when schools and families work together. We are excited to explore new ways to bring our Royal families together through campus activities, meaningful conversations, volunteer opportunities, and events that celebrate our students and community.
Our goal is to create a campus where every family feels welcomed, valued, heard, and connected. Together, we are not just building stronger school-family relationshipsโwe are building a stronger foundation for student success!
Thank you for being an essential part of our Royal family. We look forward to continuing these conversations and turning great ideas into meaningful opportunities!

**A luncheon schedule with designated times, by grade level, will be created and shared with families at the beginning of November.
๐ช Stronger Together ๐ช
At Van Gogh Secondary, we believe that a successful school is built on more than academics. It is built on relationships, trust, shared experiences, and a genuine sense of belonging. Every student deserves to feel connected to their school, and every family deserves to feel that they are an important part of our Royal community.
As we continue through the school year, we encourage families to find meaningful ways to stay involved. Whether it's attending a volleyball game, cheering at a pep rally, joining a campus celebration, participating in a parent meeting, or simply having a conversation with your child about their day, your involvement makes a difference!
Our Royal Challenge: This month, make it a goal to participate in at least one campus event or activity with your child. Let's continue building a school community where every Royal feels supported, celebrated, and proud to belong.
