FIRST GRADE NEWS

Second quarter learning themes/topics: ELAR: informational texts/research, Science: Animal Characteristics and Life Cycles, Math: addition and subtraction up to 20, Social Studies: holidays, customs and cultures.

This school year is flying by.  Please make sure to check this page frequently to see what we are working on and for important updates/information.

December Learning Topics:

Reading: Students will be identifying features of non-fiction texts (headings, captions, diagrams, labels). 

Writing: Students will continue working on note taking skills while researching wild and endangered animals.   In December we will be adding finalizing our research and creating books.

Math: Students will solve a variety of math story problems, using addition and subtraction strategies within 20.

Science: Students will research life cycles of animals.  

Social Studies: Students will learn about how different holidays and cusotms are celebrated around the world.

* Please label ALL of your child's layers - coats, jackets, hoodies - with your child's first and last names.  It helps us get them back to the correct person when they get lost. *
