The OUTGOING INTER district transfers - if you reside in Val Verde boundaries and are wanting to attend an outside district.
Outgoing INTER district transfers must be renewed on an annual basis. Once we process your transfer it is sent digitally to the district requested for processing.
INTRA DISTRICT TRANSFER for the 2026-2027 school year is now closed.
The WITHIN INTRA district transfers - if you are wanting to move from one school to another within the district.
INTRA district transfers DO NOT need to be renewed annually if you have already been approved once unless your child is matriculating to the next grade span and you do not want them to attend their school of residence.
If your child was enrolled for TK at a site that is not their school of residence they will automatically be sent to their school of residence for Kindergarten unless you submit an intra district transfer to keep them at the site they are attending.
The Governing Board desires to provide enrollment options that meet the diverse needs and interests of district students, parents, and guardians while also balancing enrollment in order to maximize the efficient use of district facilities.
There are two processes by which a parent may request approval to attend a school other than their neighborhood school:
All Transfer Requests are subject to space availability at the school, grade, and /or program requested, depending on the time of submission. They are NOT guaranteed. Please plan to attend your school of residence unless you are notified that your transfer is approved.
Val Verde USD Board Policy requires transfer students to maintain 90% attendance and good behavior (no out of school suspensions).
If your child already attends the requested transfer school on an Intra (within), he or she may continue to attend there until a grade span change (grades 5 and /or 8) unless you received a letter stating otherwise.
If your child attends a VVUSD school site on an Inter Incoming transfer from another district your child's transfer must be renewed yearly.
INTER-DISTRICT TRANSFER REQUESTS
An Inter-District transfer allows your child to attend a school outside of your school district of residence. Inter-District transfers must be renewed every year from your district of residence.
Once VVUSD or your district approves the release, the receiving district will consider your request.
The length of approvals are based on the Inter-District agreements adopted by both governing boards and may last through grade span changes when your child will enter a new school (middle school or high school)
Approved transfers can be revoked due to chronic non-attendance (>10% of school days), truancies (>30 minutes tardy or early release), or disciplinary or academic issues.
To submit appeals for Inter-District transfers, you must submit an appeal form to the Registration Center. If your appeal is denied, you may submit an appeal to the county by visiting the Riverside County Office of Education website at: www.rcoe.us
Requests allowed to be submitted after deadline may not be considered until a minimum of 10 days after school begins and class loads are determined.
INTRA-DISTRICT TRANSFER REQUESTS -
An Intra-District transfer allows your child to attend a school other than your neighborhood school.
You may use the Intra links above to submit your transfer application
An Intra-District transfer may be valid through a grade span change when your child will enter a new school (middle school or high school)
The window for Intra-district transfers for the 26-27 school year will open from January 12, 2026, thru March 9, 2026. If you submit the transfer after March 9, 2026. Your transfer will not be processed until 10 days after the start of school.
you will receive an email telling you if the transfer was approved or denied or a copy of the approved or denied transfer after the March 9th window closes.
FOR REQUESTS SUBMITTED AFTER March 9th your transfer will be approved or denied based on space available, however, you will NOT be placed on a waiting list.
Approved transfers can be revoked due to chronic non-attendance (>10% of school days), truancies (>30 minutes tardy or early release), disciplinary or academic issues.
Requests submitted after March 9th may not be considered until a minimum of 10 days after school begins and class loads are determined.
CONDITIONS FOR APPROVAL
Any arrival after 30 minutes or early pick up of 30 minutes or more is considered a truancy by the state of California.
Students with truancies may have their transfers revoked.
Students are expected to follow all class and school rules.
Disciplinary issues such as suspension are grounds for revocation.
The transfer is granted for your child's current school. When your child changes schools at 5th or 8th grade, he/she will be assigned to their neighborhood school unless you apply for and receive a transfer.
