About me
Hello friends and welcome to a new year. I am so excited to meet you and learn with you this school year. This is my eighth year teaching and I am looking forward to learniing and growing with you.
A little bit about me is that I am married with 3 kids and 4 pets. My oldest daughter is going to college to be a veterinarian. My son is in the sixth grade and my younger daughter is in fifth grade. As for pets, I have a whole menagerie. I have 2 dogs, a ball python (who loves to escape), and a sulcata tortoise.
My favorite thing to do is read, so becoming a teacher was really always my destiny. My favorite genre is fantasy and science fiction. I also love to watch movies, but only happy ones, I will never watch a sad movie voluntarily. I guess you would classify me as a nerd, but I am all for it. I love Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel, DC, and many more.
Class overview
Language Arts:
Students will practice writing narrative, argumentative, and expository texts.
Students will read literary and informational texts and practice using text evidence to support their inferences and answers to prompts.
Students will improve their vocabulary and grammar skills through weekly activities.
Social Studies:
We will be studying the following Ancient Civilizations:
Ancient Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Religions, Ancient Greece, and Ancient Rome
We will study them through the lens of GRAPES
