Expanded Learning Opportunities

At our district, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, compete, and have fun through sports. That’s why we are proud to offer a wide variety of FREE elementary and middle school athletic programs through ELOP (Expanded Learning Opportunities Program) throughout the school year!

Our sports program gives students the chance to build confidence, stay active, develop teamwork skills, and create lasting friendships in a positive and supportive environment. Whether students are stepping onto the field for the first time or continuing to grow their athletic abilities, our programs are designed to encourage participation, sportsmanship, and school pride for all skill levels.

Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to participate in exciting seasonal sports including:

*Flag Football *Basketball *Cross Country *Track & Field *Volleyball *Soccer

Each sport season runs approximately 7–9 weeks, giving students time to learn new skills, practice teamwork, and enjoy healthy competition. During each season, teams participate in 2–3 scrimmages to prepare for an exciting end-of-season tournament where students can showcase their hard work and dedication.

Our district is committed to providing enriching opportunities beyond the classroom, and these athletic programs are just one of the many ways we support the whole child, academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. Through sports, students learn leadership, perseverance, responsibility, and the value of working together toward a common goal.

Each of our Val Verde Unified School District elementary and middle school ELO-Programs feature a variety of academies specific to the site. Academies are created based on the needs and interests of the school's students, parents, staff, and community members. The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program provides funding for Robotics in Val Verde Unified School District. This consists of team uniforms, tournaments, and necessary equipment. VVUSD hosts the competitive Lego Tournament in the fall semester, which features all school sites.
