Being an alevin is one of the first stages of a rainbow trout's life. Alevins have a yolk sac attached to their stomach. This yolk sac will be what the alevins feed off the egg yolk for the first few weeks after they've hatched. They slowly develop until all the egg is gone, at that point we will have to feed them. Until then, they will keep swimming around with their egg sac on.
