How do I know my child's current reading level?
Your child's reading level, or lexile level, can be found on the NWEA report that is mailed home after each administration.
How do I know what books are at my child's lexile level?
A great online resource is lexile.com, (click here) this website will give you lists of books at all different lexile levels.
How long should my child be reading each day?
Children in Kindergarten and First grade should be reading, or be read to, for a minimum of 20 minutes each day. Children in Second and Third grades should be reading for a minimum of 30 minutes each day. Children in grades 4-6 should read for a minimum of 45 minutes each day. Reading at home on a daily basis is necessary for children to be able to build their reading stamina.
