Supporting Every Student:
Vale School District Counseling Services
At Vale School District, school counselors are vital members of our educational team, serving every school across the district. Through comprehensive counseling programs, they provide critical support to ensure the academic success, personal growth, and social-emotional well-being of every student.
Our school counselors provide a wide range of services, and they work closely with students, families, and educators to:
✅ Support Academic Achievement – Help students set goals, overcome challenges, and develop essential learning strategies.
✅ Promote Social-Emotional Well-Being – Provide guidance on self-awareness, relationship skills, and emotional regulation, coordinate targeted instruction in classrooms and small groups, and respond to student crises.
✅ Consultation and Collaboration – Work closely with educators to address student needs, serve as a liaison for students with 504 Accommodation Plans, and support parent and family engagement activities.
✅ Mental Health Services – Provide short-term individual or small group counseling, and connect students/families with community behavioral health agencies to support the mental health of students.
✅ Preventive Programs and Initiatives – Collaborate with building leaders to reduce chronic absenteeism, lead efforts to create a positive school culture by promoting inclusivity, and provide training for staff on behavior intervention strategies and trauma-informed practices.
✅ Career Development and College Readiness – Guide students in exploring careers, interests, and educational opportunities across all grade levels, and provide resources, guidance, and support for students as they prepare for higher education pathways.
We are committed to empowering every student with the tools and support they need to thrive—both in school and beyond.
Vale SD school counselors are licensed through the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission in the State of Oregon. The minimum education requirement for this license is a master’s degree in school counseling or social work.
