Students will be held to classwide expectations: Be safe, Be respectful, Be responsible.
When students struggle to follow these expectations, we will use district policy to move forward.
I utilize a 3 reminder system. Reminders may result in a "walking ticket" with a reflection on the back. If behavior continues after 3 walking tickets, students will receive RED office referral Behavior Reflection to complete in the office.
Think sheets may also be paired with a phone call home or loss of recess or free time.
Think sheets are intended to offer the student time to reflect on the action, who it impacted, and what they think should be their consequence.
Think sheets are sent home for parent signature and expected back the following morning.
Homework will not be sent home often. Exceptions to this may be missing work or incomplete work. If student work is sent home to complete at home, please make sure I receive it back to ensure it goes in the gradebook.
Part Fridays are a great opportunity for students to complete missing/incomplete work. If a Part Friday passes and incomplete work still is missing, it will be entered into the gradebook as a zero.
I want to celebrate students who are positive examples in our classroom. This may be a student who is always quietly doing the right thing, or may be another student who has made improvements and are showing growth academically, behaviorally, emotionally, etc. . Students who exemplify positive Viking character traits and follow our classroom expectations consistently may be named the classroom G.O.A.T. for the week.
As mentioned in the handbook, Oregon Executive Order 25-09 prohibits any cell phone use in K-12 classrooms.
I am aware that many students have cell phones and watches for safety reasons. Students will be asked to leave them in their backpacks during the school day. If a student needs to contact you, I will help them get in touch with you during school hours.
Please be aware if you would like to join us in class or on any field trips, you will need to complete the volunteer form and background check prior.
