Homework Expectations

Each month your child will come home with a reading log and a fun bingo challenge. Please either read to your child or have your child read to you for 10 minutes each night. The fun bingo challenge is optional, but can be fun for the whole family! 

On Thursday your child will come home with a math worksheet that reviews what we have been learning and a spelling pattern practice sheet. 

Throughout the week your child may come with a reading sheet or mini book with a X_____. Please have your child read this to you and then initial the X______.

Spelling Philosophy 

I believe strongly that we shouldn't memorize how to spell a list of words each week, but instead practice with phonics pattern. We practice sounding out and spelling a variety of words each day with that week's pattern. On Thursday, your child will practice spelling 3 words and writing a sentence with that weeks focus skill and previously learned sight words. This is for informational purposes only as a teacher to help guide my lesson planning and groups. Your child will become a better speller if they can bump out the sounds they hear.
