August 9, 2022 Sessions

Seesaw Get Teachers Started: Teachers learn to use essential Seesaw tools to create engaging learning experiences that make thinking and learning visible. This session is for teachers who are brand new to Seesaw, need a refresher course or have never assigned an activity.

Integrating Seesaw in your Instructional Routines: Teachers who have used Seesaw and want to learn how to integrate it into their classroom routines. Teachers will also learn how to integrate Seesaw into different times of the instructional day. Find the balance between technology use and no-screen time.

Aeries Gradebook: Aeries Gradebook: It's easy, it’s fun and it’s integrated… This training will provide an overview of the setup, navigation, and function of the Aeries Teacher Gradebook. The Gradebook allows teachers to setup all class assignments for their classes. Parents and students can view the student’s current grade from the web anytime. It’s new, but it's way better than whatever School Loop was.

Parent Square (Of course parents are square): Come and join in the fun of learning a new communication tool! Parent Square is a one-stop shop for school happenings, improving communication, coordination, and engagement between home and the school community. Parent Square's success is based upon users' active involvement: cultivating useful communication with families, adding events to the integrated school calendar, posting information for students, and sharing photos and files of student and school activities. Engage stakeholders through interactive polls and allow them to RSVP for events or sign up to bring things to the classroom.

AVID Strategies for English Classrooms: AVID Strategies are research-based best practices in teaching methodology. Think of it as a plate where the best teaching strategies are served upon. The focus of this session is on promoting rigor through WICOR: Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization and Reading. These methods increase engagement through student ownership, accountability, and critical thinking.

AVID Engagement Strategies / The Interactive Notebook: With the support of technology, students have more note-taking options than ever before. With Interactive Notebooks, students gather information from different sources and combine it with their own thinking. Interactive notebooks go beyond text and can include pictures, links, audio, videos, and much more.

Building a Well-Behaved Classroom: The Blueprint for Behavior Management: The need for behavior-based teacher resources is more pressing than ever. If you want knowledge, insights, and inspiration for preventing and responding to challenging student behaviors, this is the session for you! Discover the key components of effective classroom management and learn to determine the root causes of student behavior. Using a proactive framework you will learn to make small, impactful changes to your current classroom practices that will lead to positive behavior change! Bring your laptop to participate in this interactive training.

AVID 1 Pagers: Have you heard the whispers about one-pagers in the hallways? The concept of a one-pager, in which students share their most important takeaways on a single piece of blank paper, has really taken off recently. A One-Pager is a creative response to your learning experience. It allows you to respond imaginatively while being brief and concise in making connections between words and images.

What’s Love Got To Do With It? Building Relational Capacity in Learning:

This session will illustrate the foundational power that relationships have over memory and resilient learning in order to show how grit, determination, and positive purpose arise from caring and committed relationships. In addition, it will explore how the neurochemistry of positive and challenging relationships increases memory and engagement with rigorous learning.
