I'm Matthew Heidt and welcome to my ePortfolio.
I've worked in the adult learning space as part of corporate learning and development since 2013. I've facilitated training classes in person, virtually, and in blended modalities. I've designed and maintained curriculums (one spanning a 500 page participant guide), consulted with managers, senior managers, and subject matter experts to uncover and tackle learning gaps in an efficient and caring way.
Near the end of 2017 I took on a more focused role as an instructional designer. This allowed me to pursue my passion in design and development of learning solutions. I love breaking down complex problems in to digestible pieces using story driven scenarios in training.
I believe training is best when it is relevant, accurate, and engaging. I strive for all three in every course I design.
Learning and helping others learn are two of my favorite things. When I found out I could do that as a job, and actually design training courses, I knew what I wanted my career to be.
I chose adult learning because as a life long learner, I wanted to focus on the age in which we spend most of our lives learning. My brain never stops absorbing information and learning new things. I want other people to experience this same joy in a way that's relevant to them.
Adult learning is thrilling. I have to the tools and experience to break down complex concepts in a digestible way for adult learners. Watching a look of confusion turn to one of understanding after a learner completes a course I've built is an amazing experience to me.
