We are excited that you are interested in having our student(s) as interns. Students can take internship for credit through the UW-Whitewater Communication and Journalism programs. Students earn 1 credit per 50 hours of work. Most students take the course for 3 credits and need to work a total of 150 hours over the course of the semester. Students can nout count work completed prior to the semester in which they are earning credit.
Supervisors are expected to fill out a review form toward the end of the semester, and the internship coordinator may reach out with questions/to ensure a student is successfully completing the program. Students may wish to meet with you regularly to discuss goals, skills and other experiences they are having.
Most internships are now days paid internships, especially those that are most popular with students.
All students in the programs at UW-Whitewater gain skills in both theoretical and hands-on experiences. Additionally our students are professional communicators trained in writing, interpersonal communication and public speaking. For more specific skills please see the lists below.
