Student Support & Success
We want to support our students.
At UWS, we are here for our students. This is reflected in the various support mechanisms we have in place - from funding advice to counselling.
Please see below our student support website, which breaks down the support we have on offer, as well as explaining important study related questions in simple terms, so that you can clearly understand your academic journey.
Your Education Guidance Adviser
Are you confused or overwhelmed with your studies? Wanting some extra help or support? Wanting to understand university rules or options? Can't find a certain piece of information?
Laurie, your Education Guidance Adviser, is here to provide you with the study support and advice that you need, whether you are just starting out or about to graduate.
You can find her in three ways:
She has face to face drop ins, 12-1pm every Tuesday and Thursday by Export Library (term time only).
Book a 1-1 video appointment through Calendly at a time that suits you - https://calendly.com/lauriehagan
Email her with a quick question or query - laurie.hagan@uws.ac.uk
Disability Support & Well-being
Every student should be able to experience the full range of the university’s activities. If you have a disability, a long-standing medical condition or a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia, the Disability Service can help you make the most of your time at UWS.
Here at UWS, we have introduced SilverCloud, an online service that gives you secure, immediate access to interactive CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) modules.
Programmes include: Space from Stress, Space from Anxiety, Space from Depression, and Space for Positive Body Image.
It’s easy to use, interesting and motivational. Access it anywhere on your computer, tablet or mobile.
Academic Skills
We run academic skills workshops in both term 1 and 2:
What are they?:
The workshops provide you with a fundamental understanding of academic writing and referencing to help you to succeed in your degree.
Who are they for?:
The workshops are targeted at all Business School students — ALL NEW students are EXPECTED to attend;
When are the workshops running?:
Please refer to your programme-specific support sessions.
We also have a dedicated Careers & Skills Team available at UWS, helping you with developing your study skills, including supporting you with completing your assessments, exam preperation, and more..
Employability

Part of this is pro-actively helping our students to obtain work experiences through placements, internships, part-time work, etc.
The team can support you with career planning, job searching tips and further study options.
This is a general session open to any degree discipline within the School.
