The UWF Robotics Club’s goal is to give aspiring roboticists a strong foundation of knowledge in preparation for internships and higher education. With a field as multidisciplinary as robotics, it is important for future robotics engineers to explore various elements of robotics before reaching the PhD level, especially elements that would not normally be introduced in their standard curriculum. In efforts to prepare students we will explore the various disciplines and aspects of robotics education through multidisciplinary peer-led workshops and in-house competitions. It is our belief that having a strong mathematical and programming background, as well as experience with a wide variety of hardware and software, will give UWF students an edge when applying for internships and REUs. Building a sense of familiarity with important basic concepts of robotics should encourage students to continue their independent learning. Our secondary goal is to provide an innovative environment that will inspire students to join and create robotics teams. We aspire to create well-rounded engineers that are enthusiastic to further their education. To meet this goal, we will introduce students to concepts that spur from a typical classroom education and expand on industry skills and hands-on experience. Further, students will have the opportunity to network with students and faculty within the Club, as well as researchers from outside labs and institutions, creating more opportunities for those involved.
