Bachillerato Internacional / International Baccalaureate (IB)

El Programa Académico de UWC Costa Rica sigue el plan de estudios del Programa del Diploma (PD) del IB, que consta de seis grupos de asignaturas y el núcleo del PD, que comprende Teoría del Conocimiento (TOK), Creatividad, Actividad, Servicio (CAS) y la Monografía (EE). UWC Costa Rica es el único colegio UWC del movimiento que ofrece el Bachillerato Internacional completo en español, y los estudiantes pueden optar por obtener un diploma bilingüe.

UWC Costa Rica's Academic Program follows the IB's Diploma Programme (DP) curriculum, which consists of six subject groups and the DP core, comprising Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), and the Extended Essay (EE). UWC Costa Rica is the only UWC college in the movement that offers the full IBDP in Spanish, and students can opt-in to achieve a bilingual diploma.

Teoría del Conocimiento / Theory of Knowledge (ToK)

Una evaluación obligatoria para los estudiantes que completan el trabajo esencial al final de su primer año en UWC Costa Rica. «TOK pretende que los estudiantes tomen conciencia de la naturaleza interpretativa del conocimiento, incluidos los sesgos ideológicos personales, ya sea que estos sesgos se mantengan, se revisen o se rechacen. Ofrece a los estudiantes y a sus profesores la oportunidad de reflexionar críticamente sobre las diversas formas de conocer y sobre las áreas del conocimiento."- Descripción del IB

A mandatory assessment for students who complete the essential work at the end of their first year at UWC Costa Rica. “TOK aims to make students aware of the interpretative nature of knowledge, including personal ideological biases – whether these biases are retained, revised, or rejected. Extensiones Experienciales / Experiential Extensions

Siguiendo nuestro modelo de aprendizaje experiencial, las Extensiones Experienciales invitan a nuestra comunidad a estudiar fuera de las aulas en excursiones educativas de un día y actividades relacionadas con sus asignaturas del Bachillerato Internacional (BI).

Following our experiential learning model, Experiential Extensions invite our community to study outside the classrooms in one-day educational field trips and activities related to their International Baccalaureate (IB) subjects.

UWC Costa Rica ofrece asesoramiento personalizado para que todos los estudiantes encuentren el camino correcto en su futuro más allá del Colegio. Ya sea solicitando el ingreso en una universidad, realizando una experiencia de año sabático o entrando en el mundo laboral, nos aseguramos de que toda la comunidad obtenga las herramientas adecuadas para tomar una decisión informada e inspirada.

El objetivo es acompañar a los estudiantes en su viaje de solicitud a universidades de todo el mundo, encontrando la que mejor se adapte a cada uno y ayudándoles a solicitar becas parciales y completas. También colaboramos con la Davis Foundation, aportando ayuda financiera a los estudiantes de la UWC en más de 100 universidades de Estados Unidos.

UWC Costa Rica provides one-on-one counseling for all students to find the right path in their future beyond college. Whether applying for a university, taking a gap year experience, or entering the workforce, we ensure the whole community gets the right tools to make an informed and inspired decision.

The aim is to accompany students on their application journeys to universities worldwide, finding the best fit for each student and helping them apply for partial and full scholarships. We also work with the Davis Foundation, bringing financial support to UWC students in more than 100 universities across the United States.
