UWC on Air show, episode 5: The RPL unit was featured on the UWC on Air show, episode 5 and 7, season 1 2022 an initiative hosted by UWCs Institutional Advancement Department. During this show, Dr. Rambharose engaged members of the community on RPL and what flexible learning and access pathways mean for people who previously never had the opportunity to study at University. The show captured RPL advising, entry requirements and the RPL for access portfolio development hybrid programme during a certificate and closing ceremony. Each endorsed candidate received an articulation certificate, allowing them the opportunity to use their RPL portfolio of evidence in any other higher education institution. This was the first time in the history of RPL at UWC that candidates received certificates that acknowledged their RPL assessment, endorsement and further provided an opportunity for access within other institutions outside of UWC. This notion further cements the authenticity, best practice model for RPL implementation and national support that is offered through the tailored RPL for access programme at UWC. Dr Rekha Rambharose is directly responsible for the curriculum development, RPL assessment and facilitation of this programme. She is often called upon by various institutions and industry to implement RPL policy and practice models similar to the model applied at UWC.
UWC RPL Student Ambassadors Forum SAF 2022
In 2022, the RPL UWC established the need for an ambassadors forum that was aligned directly with the context and needs of the RPL candidates. The RPL Student Ambassadors Forum (SAF) was launched with the first intake of 10 UWC students (former RPL candidates) who serve as beacons of hope to the thousands of mature learners who wish to gain access to university. The SAF team works directly with Dr. Rambharose in promoting RPL awareness, and community engagement, and uplifting the new RPL intakes each year. These students play a key role in showcasing that RPL implementation is important, it makes an impact and catapults educational transformation.
