Hello, and welcome to LIN737!
This course takes a flipped classroom approach to teaching and learning, which means that you, the student, are in the driver's seat. Each week, you come to this page, check the roster below, and engage with that week's course content at your own pace, in your own style. Each week, as soon as you've completed the coursework, you start work on your portfolio, which will eventually become your semester essay and your exam.Â
All your work pieces (portfolio work, semester essay, and exam) must be submitted through iKamva. Please check the submissions portal for the exact date and time of each deadline.
We, the students and lecturers, will meet once a week in the Linguistics Department's boardroom to discuss your questions. At these meetings, you should feel free to ask anything: clarification about something in the videos or the readings, how to apply concepts to real examples, how to write answers to the questions in your portfolio pieces. These weekly meetings take place on Thursdays at 14:00-16:00 (check the roster below for the dates of each discussion).
