I’m an educator and writer with considerable experience in higher education teaching and learning. My research pre-occupations are curriculum development and design, project management and text analysis. I am an early-career academic with a special interest in language, new technologies, gender and the media.
My research explores the interplay of language, gender, and media studies while advancing the responsible use of AI in higher education. In collaboration with colleagues, I have co-developed an AI study buddy framework to support lecturers and students. Further, I am co-designing immersive first-year excursions to enhance self-directed learning for preservice teachers in the Western Cape.
I am currently a lecturer in the department of Language Education at the University of the Western Cape.
