Your online portfolio is like a virtual business card, with more useful information. It is a summary of your professional self, with links to additional information. You should probably not run an advertising campaign about it, but here are a few tips on where to include it for your professional benefit:
In your email signature
On your LinkedIn profile
On your other social media profiles, if you use social media to talk about your work
On your CV
In job applications (make suer that the website is up to date and well maintained!)
In funding proposals, where appropriate
On your institution website's staff list
Check for typos, just as you would for your CV
Make sure that photos are credited. If not in a caption, in the 'alt text' feature.
Make sure that you have the permission to publish the content you include.
Commit to keeping your website up to date. As soon as a student graduates or you have a new publication, take the few minutes it takes to update your website. You'll be glad you did it when the time comes to scramble to collect information for funder reports, etc.
